Sam Diego's Mexican Cookery and Bar

Mexican restaurants can always accommodate our vegetarian and gluten-free preference. Sam Diego's choices were the most limited we've come across in our experience. Our friendly and attentive waiter did not know the menu well enough to help us and there was no vegetarian section or clearly labeled corn versus flour tortillas. We did eventually figure it out and portions were large but the food was just good enough. In a pinch, we would go back, but that wouldn't be our first choice.

I have been eating at this restaurant since it opened
The food is OK and the service has always been good until recently
We have always ordered the same fajita burrito for over 30 years and it has always come the same way but over the past year or so they have been putting pulled chicken in it instead of fajita chicken and it’s disgusting,
When I spoke to the managers, one told me that that’s the way they were doing it now, which isn’t the case because all the rest of them said that it was a mistake the kitchen was making.. Recently, they had to fix it again. I couldn’t get back that day to return it, and we were Treated incredibly rudely by an unprofessional, extremely rude manager named Nikki. She pointed out, basically that I should suck it up and eat it even if it’s a mistake or I should start ordering something else. I cannot believe this restaurant has her managing. She has horrible people skills. She was disrespectful, rude and nasty. When I was growing up, I worked in the restaurant business for years. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened to me. Had I ever treated a customer in such a way They’re in the customer service industry and this horrible woman told me to either eat the food even if they make a mistake or start ordering something else or go somewhere else. I don’t think they are doing as good as Business as they used to and clearly this must be the reason why. Clearly, this manager has issues because she cannot properly train the kitchen staff to tell them that the fajita chicken burrito contains fajita chicken and not the pulled chicken like the pulled chicken burrito. I’ve never in my life experience such a rude staff member especially manager as this person Nikki so after 30+ years, I probably will never eat at this restaurant again because of this terrible manager

Absolutely a great place, food, and staff. Love going there and it is always a highlight of any day. They have some discontinued menu items that they will readily make for those that remember them. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Still My favorite restaurant still since I first went here about 15 years ago. I cant remember ever having a bad experience. The food is mouth watering great. Everything on the menu is so flavorful.. even the coleslaw... I cant get enough of and want some right now, thanks. The only only thing I dont like are the side of black beans but the queso in top is tasty.

Delicious TexMex! I love the free chips and salsa, especially when they come out hot. The giant margaritas are in fact giant so be ready. And the food is very consistent. I love that it comes out HOT and it’s consistently good. Sam Diego’s has a unique taste and I’ve eaten here for years. Just never got around to writing a review. But I highly recommend going when you’re hungry because the portions are big!

Every weekday taco/chili lunch buffet!!! We ordered of the special lunch menu, the waiter was very attentive, the food excellent, and all of the free tortilla chips and salsa you can eat!!
