I have such fond memories coming here throughout the years. I was originally introduced to this location a few years ago by the kids I babysat, since they lived in Waltham and the Belmont Center location was closer than the Newtonville one. We kept going back and it was delicious every time! My go to flavor is the hydrox cookies and cream. It won't let you down! The staff is mainly juniors and seniors in high school and they're so nice to guests and are hustling on the job (and supporting eachother on their college adventures which you love to see). There's not many seats inside but that was never a problem for us. Besides, it's nicely located in Belmont Center so you can also walk around a bit, or sit outside if you'd like. :)

Most delicious, vegan ice cream I've ever eaten! My granddaughter, and I enjoyed our coconut cream in homemade cones. Being vegan, most of the cones are not vegan friendly, but these are made right on the premises, and they are! Keep up the good work we love it.

Staff are friendly and the ice cream is decent. There are a lot of original flavors such as tiger milk (similar to milk after frost flakes). We got the vegan coconut yuzu and bittersweet chocolate. It was an unexpectedly good combo that reminded me of almond Joy candy but with a little bit of citrus. The coconut yuzu had a tiny bit of ice but overall was a very well done flavor.

Tried two flavors of frozen yogurt (mocha chip and coffee). Neither had much of a texture or creamy. Having been used to Richardson's yogurt, I was expecting more, but at this place, the yogurt was more like popsicle texture.

This place has so many delicious and unique flavors. Love that they are always rotating them. I always have to sample a few before I order because there are just so many interesting choices!

Good ice cream. A little bit expensive but some wonderful flavors. Could use a better plain chocolate

For some context, I used to work here back in high school and Joe is big on taking care of all his bases when it comes to the store: happy customers, quality ice cream, and happy staff-most of which are high schoolers. The ice cream is made local and delivered everyday to each of the locations. The store has rotating flavors with six ice cream flavors that are in the store year round: 1. Vanilla or Vanilla Bean or French Vanilla, 2. Hydrox (cookies and cream but with hydrox cookies), 3. Milk Chocolate, 4. Bittersweet Chocolate (dark chocolate), 5. Sweet Cream (the base for all the ice cream), and 6. Coffee, and these are all located together near the register. They typically have two frozen yogurt flavors and one to two sorbet flavors. The rest will rotate and they can vary from extremely esoteric flavors like Kulfi (indian frozen dairy dessert) and Tiger's Milk (frosted flake) to coconut or salted caramel. And no, they don't have soft serve here.Came here on a hot summer day and spent $5 on a micro (one large scoop) with Cocoa Joel which is a blend of their Milk and Bittersweet(dark) chocolate ice cream that has chocolate chips and hydrox cookies(Oreo like cookie). I've always been a fan and couldn't be more happy with the quality and the consistency of the ice cream over the years. A little bummed out that the prices have gone up to $5 for one scoop though! The store was recently repainted black and red, and there are all new tables and seats! Come here if you want to try some solid ice cream!

Great ice cream, fair price. They also have multiple vegan ice cream flavors. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. The space is a bit small, but it's well worth visiting.

Great ice cream spot in Belmont. Fun flavors like Basil Chip. Workers are friendly and helpful. I got coffee and ginger snap molasses. My wife got Basil Chip and Vegan Chocolate. We need it thoroughly on a hot day

If you detect some superficial similarities between Rancatore's ice cream here in Belmont (and Lexington) and Toscanini's in Cambridge, you're not alone. Not only do they share boldly lettered and colored signage, but they're run by two brothers. Older brother Gus runs Toscanini's, while younger brother Joe runs Rancatore's. Joe actually worked with Gus long ago, but they developed differing opinions on ice cream. So, in order to maintain a cordial family relationship, they decided to build different businesses. Here in Belmont, you'll find dozens of flavors of ice cream, sorbet, and yogurt, some of which are seasonal or otherwise somewhat unusual. I had to go for what looked like the two most unusual flavors to me: the khulfi (cardamom, almonds, pistachio) and the orange blossom pistachio. Both nicely provocative thanks to their different flavor profiles, but also similarly nutty, creamy, and indulgent. A solid choice for quality ice cream. Boston - and our waistlines - are all the better for this friendly sibling rivalry.
