I’m truly embarrassed for this establishment. I’ve been before and it was fine, but they have no business accepting group reservations. A group of 10 being served by by someone serving another group the same size. Perhaps they got better service.
An hour and five minutes from sitting until drinks were served. 90 minutes until appetizer orders were taken. A few highlights include the cauliflower and Shishito peppers (note one pepper and burnt to death cauliflower) see photo. No one ever asked how food was. Fast forward to entrées and steaks ordered medium came out as rare as those ordered medium rare.
And bathrooms are disgusting.

We had high expectations for this establishment and couldn’t wait to go for brunch and shopping on Charles. Sadly, the burger was dry and the presentation of it was quite stark and embarrassing. The steak omedilla was basic and lackluster. The tots with caviar came out cold! We spoke up and our server immediately replaced them. They were alright. Surprisingly the Caesar salad was the only acceptable menu item that garnished any respect. If we were to go back it would be for the bloodys and I’d sit at the bar and then go eat elsewhere. Likely the worst $200 brunch I’ve ever had:

I am truly disappointed to write this review, but our experience on Saturday, December 6th was one of the worst ever, and ruined my wife’s birthday experience. We opted to dine at 1928 based on the number of positive reviews, and were thrilled to get a reservation, even though it was for 9:15 pm, later than we wanted to eat. We informed the management we were their to celebrate my wife’s birthday, having driven in from New York the day before.
When we arrived around 9:00 pm, we were told that our table was almost ready, and that the people at that table were finishing their desserts, and should be leaving soon. By 9:55 pm, we still were waiting for our table, having been told that the people had finished their desserts and were leaving soon. We were seated at 10:00 pm. No apologies from the management for the wait. Nada,. Things only got worse.
After perusing 1928’s wine menu, I was quite surprised by the overpriced selection. The cheapest bottle of Red wine was $65. Most were well above the $100 price range. We ordered a bottle for $95.00. When our waiter came back a few minutes later to take our orders, we were informed that the kitchen was closing, and we needed to get our order in. Now we felt rushed to order, even though we had been there for well over an hour. The food came, which was ok, but at that point, we were beginning to feel we had made a huge mistake coming to 1928. When our meal wrapped up, the waiter brought the check, like they wanted us out of the restaurant, as it was nearly empty by this point. No offer to provide my wife with a birthday dessert, which was the icing on the cake.
I am still amazed how the management of this “5 star” restaurant can be so insensitive to its guests, especially those celebrating events. Why even bother making a reservation when it literally means nothing? Or picking this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, when they do nothing to recognize it?

Overpriced and slightly above average food. $25 for some cut up beets they threw on a plate. Food was good but nothing special. $180 check for 2 people, 1 appetizer and no drinks.
We had a wonderful experience at 1928 Beacon Hill! It was our first (but definitely not last!) time at this restaurant. Absolutely everything was perfect ~ the staff, the food, the atmosphere! We couldn't have asked for more! We look forward to returning sometime in the near future!
Our server was amazing, and our meal was delicious. We were blown away. We'll be back. We highly recommend it.
1928 is a hidden gem on Beacon Hill; the decor and vibe are both good. The service was very good, considering you needed more wait staff. The tots and caviar are a misnomer( sour cream and?) the eggs Benedict were overcooked. The cocktails were outstanding. Certainly will return to try dinner next time.
I cannot say enough about 1928 Beacon Hill. We had an impromptu engagement party in the Library Room in back and it was stunning. The perfect setting to celebrate. The food was delicious and the drinks spot on as well. Most of all our server Tristan was top notch.. A special THANK YOU to Ben - you were so patient and so generous with your time accommodating us with some last minute adjustments.
We all cannot wait to be back ! Cheers

Today my wife and I were looking for a spot to have a quick drink after a nice walk around the city. She mentioned that 1928 was a place she had been looking forward to trying. We walked in and the place was packed—great ambiance and amazing energy. We were hoping to find a couple of bar seats, but everything was taken.
Suddenly, the host approached us and immediately offered her assistance. She was very friendly and sincere, letting us know that waiting for bar seats could take a few minutes, but she could have a table ready for us in about two minutes if we were willing to sit. Her style and hospitality sold us on the table right away.
We ended up having a wonderful dinner, a really nice glass of Prosecco, two glasses of red wine, and a full meal that made our night unbelievable. Tatiana transformed our evening in less than five minutes and made us feel at home. It was our first time visiting, and it definitely won’t be our last. Amazing experience. Thank you, Tatiana.

A great gem in Beacon Hill. Location was great and the ambience provided a great backdrop for dinner. Dinner menu was great and you have to try the cocktails - so fun and something for everyone.

The food was very tasty. Our service is what was lacking. Although the waitress was trying there were some misses. My husband wanted to order a 2nd drink and the waitress never brought the drink, I ordered a coffee after dinner with dessert and it was never came. Had the service been better we would have rated it a 5.
Highly recommended, and it lived up to the reputation. Ask for the window seat. It's the only one and cozy. Fabulous menu. Get the cauliflower app. For a busy Place on a Monday night, our seating was intimate and lovely.
My girlfriend and I had a lovely date night dinner here. The location and ambiance has so much character and really makes you feel like you're having fine dining tucked in the bowels of Boston. The cocktails were 10/10 some of the best I've had. The short rib and steak frites were great as well. This is now in our Boston date night rotation
Great restaurant hidden on Beacon Hill. The food doesn't disappoint. Steak frites was excellent. Halibut delicious!!
10/10! Fantastic drinks, amazing apps and spectacular main courses! The vibe and esthetic is everything and more. Book the library room if you can!!
