I arrived at the location with friends the ambience was decent. My main complaint is that my food was not hot, it was barely warm, less than 10 minutes of eating it. Despite that I will admit the food was tasty and decently priced. The balkva was great!

Ordered a chicken shawarma pita, chicken was hard and burnt. Rest of pita was very mediocre. There’s a reason why there’s so few people sitting inside. Do not come here!!

The overall atmosphere is not that welcoming. Staff are quite hostile. The first time I went they refused to serve me saying they were closed although there were still customers being seated. I respected that and came back again on another day at any earlier time. I should have known the first time was a sign not to try the place. The staff were still hostile. The beef doner tasted weird, not bad but weird. The menu said the doner is halal but when I asked the staff member preparing the sandwiches he was hesitant to say yes it was. I guess the upside is that it’s a doner place on Newbury street which is a good thing. But overall, it’s overrated and I would be reluctant to eat there again.

Aceituna after dark : We recently booked what was advertised as a dining experience ($272 for four people), but unfortunately, the overall execution fell far short of expectations.

The event took place in a small room behind a curtain—essentially a bar area inside what is otherwise a fast food establishment (aceituna grill). It lacked the ambiance and setting of a proper restaurant, which was surprising given the price point.

Seating arrangements clearly prioritized fitting in as many guests as possible over providing comfort. Bar stools and small tables—more suitable for children—offered no cushioning and were made of hard wood, making the overall setup uncomfortable and cramped.

Of the four or five appetizer options advertised, one of the main dishes—meatballs—was unavailable, leaving tuna and a selection of vegetarian options. The main course, lamb, was very difficult to cut even with a steak knife and was dry, as though it had either been overcooked or prepared in advance.

While the bartender was attentive and professional, the waiter was slow and at times handed dishes directly to me to place on the table myself.

To make matters worse, a 21% service charge (18% tip and 3% kitchen fee) was automatically added to the bill. Despite this, the payment terminal still prompted for an additional tip without any clear indication that gratuity had already been included—leaving guests at risk of tipping twice.

At this price, we expected a curated, comfortable, and professionally delivered dining experience. Unfortunately, what we received felt more like an overpriced, makeshift setup in an unconventional and ill-suited location.

I just bought a chicken plate with garlic sauce
The chicken is burnt and the garlic sauce has no garlic on it. It’s more like a mayonnaise
I came here a year ago and the food quality was better and the taste was better

Aceituna after dark (the spot in the back with a bar and tables) is phenomenal. Ate at the bar and had a great experience thanks to the bartenders! Shoutout Zenar introducing me to Arak! Food and cocktails were insanely good. Coming back soon

Went for Iftar time at 7 pm. . Worker said no beef or lamb left. No fattoush left. No tabouleh left. Only a small pile of chicken. Didn’t order from here. Disappointing that they’re open until 8 and there is half the food options already out.

Ok for a quick meal, feels relatively healthy and delicious! Overpriced I think for what you get, chicken can be a little dry. Highly suggest the fried cauliflower and eggplant side. We were once kicked out because we weren’t ordering (we were waiting for another guest) when the restaurant was practically empty, which is quite absurd. But good food for the location

Ordered via Uber Eats. My beef and lamb plate was so sour that I could not eat it.
