Yeah, no. Lived in this city my entire life, never tried this place, but always see it stuffed as I walk by consistently. Decided to give it a whirl yesterday. Really hard bringing myself to spend roughly $15 on a freaking Italian sub, small bag of chips, and a can of soda. All this is is Jersey Mike's with a different name. Both a rip off, both make solid subs and both are overrated. Not worth the price. Walk over to Chinatown and get 10 Dumplings for $6 instead. You won't regret it. Far superior and less than 1/2 the price. No brainer. Plus, seeing the owners response to somebody's comment on here, turned me off even further. You gave a guy 2 pieces of cold cuts and you're telling him how he should go about handling it? You guys never answer your phone anyways and you told him to call and you would have fixed it? Then blamed him for publicly embarrassing you guys? Are you serious? That sandwich you served publicly embarrassed you guys.
Yeah, never again. It's only getting 2 stars because the sub itself was honestly pretty decent. Can't lie about that. Still not worth it.

I love Al's subs. I get the eggplant parm every time. Alas, since opening all these locations, I keep getting the wrong order. Once it was a chicken parmesan, another time it was eggplant and chicken, and today it was a meatball sub. I'm a vegetarian, so every time this happens, I can't even eat it. And, they are so busy, they don't answer their phone, so I can't even get a substitution. So sad.

First respectable cheesesteak I’ve found in Boston as a Philly transplant

If you're looking for the perfect sub, look no further.
I had the Vegetarian sub, the bread was fresh and loved the marinated peppers and onions. It was hands-down the best I've had anywhere. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the portion size was generous and the price was great. The staff were friendly and fast. Highly recommend!

The large size subs are huge. I really liked the bread, which was lighter and softer than I thought it would be.

I get the hype now. It’s that kind of local spot that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t have to. The line was long (as expected), but it moved fast. I got the sandwich, fresh bread, stacked with meat, and somehow still affordable. The staff have the kind of chaotic, hilarious energy that makes waiting in line actually fun.Legit one of the best lunch spots around.

Got there just as they were closing. I ordered a Chef Salad made fresh to order. Sat down after closing hours and enjoyed my meal. Inever felt rushed. I appreciated that.

The subs at Al's are true works of art. The large sub is plenty for two. Toppings were generous and the older gentlemen behind the counter add real atmosphere. Reasonably priced at $13.50 for a large (bigger than a foot long) . Pay attention, they close early (around 3) and stop making hot subs a little before that.

Really excellent food, we tried some sandwiches which were delicious and although we had taken the small ones they were very large, difficult for just one person to finish. Very kind staff. I highly recommend.

Best subs we have ever had! I got 2 large subs and split between 1 adult and 3 (big) kids and still have 3 good sized portions we are leaving with. Everyone working there were very friendly.

Finally experience a great little hunny of a deal. I'm grateful for all these hard working sub shops do. They are constantly busy from the time the walk in the building. Amazing work ethics and their team works wonders.

been wanting to come to this place forever and finally did…maybe I ordered wrong, but it was just fine? Reminded me of jersey mike’s. Jersey mike’s is fine, but sometimes you just want a stellar sandwich. Great staff though
