This is one of Boston's best-kept secrets. Delectable Desires Pastries provides amazing cakes that are really tasty! They are incredibly crafty and creative in designs. I ordered a basketball cake for my daughter's basketball team's senior celebration. I was blown away by how she brought my vision to life and added her amazing touches to making everything look so real. This is my new bakery! And to top it all off... Delectable Desires Pastries' Founder and Pastry Chef is a woman and black-owned! Jackpot!

I ordered a custom cake a few months back and was overall not satisfied with how it turned out. I had issues with the design and the taste.Design - I was expecting a better design composition considering the other reviews and how nice the cakes on the site/instagram looked. I wanted a cake in the shape of an art palette for my artist girlfriend. I provided 2 reference pics as inspiration and I feel that either one was better designed than the cake I got. The cake I got looks really simple and not very well thought out compared to the reference pics.If you notice, only 4 paints were added and they are huge and spread out pretty evenly around the cake so they just look like globs of colored frosting. It would be hard to tell you're looking at an art palette if it weren't for the brushes compared to the reference pics. I think it would have looked better if more paints were added, made smaller and clustered closer to one side like the first reference photo. Or at the very least there should be more paints and given a better shape if they're going to be spread out and bigger.The brushes on my cake were also pretty small. It would have looked better if either the brush handles were longer like in the first reference pic or if the actual head of the brush was bigger like in the second reference pic.The birthday message was also simplistic. I was expecting a nice cursive type of font like in the reference pic but instead got a standard font that just feels printed onto the cakeTaste - The taste wasn't much better. I asked for red velvet because my girlfriend loves red velvet but honestly I wasn't a fan of the recipe, taste and looks-wise. The picture I attached makes the color look darker but the color was more of a bright red and the cake was spongier than I expected and the taste made me think it was pure vanilla cake. When I think of red velvet I think of a deep, rich red color with a more dense texture. I honestly think the slices of red velvet they sell at star market look and taste better.The worst part is that the edges of the cake were overdone and burnt. I'm not sure how well it shows in the picture I attached but the cake was burnt all around the edges and in some places it was worse than others. Even though it's a relatively thin area, it was very distracting when eating the cake.I really wanted to give my girlfriend an impressive cake and I really wanted to like the one I got but given its design and taste flaws I was disappointed. I expected more from this bakery considering the good reviews, the nice looking cakes on the site, the friendly service and the fact that it cost $225

The BEST! Everything that comes out of this place is AMAZING. I recently placed an order for custom cupcakes to celebrate the birth of my niece. Carlene took such great care of me and my order as if it we were her own. I just finished my last one today - five days later - and it tastes just as good as the day I picked them up. Cannot recommend enough, you will not be disappointed!

I ordered a muffin and coffee cake here. It was good, prices were reasonable, and staff was friendly. I was a little disappointed that I got there at 10, two hours after opening up, and there was almost nothing left for pastries! They also open a little later than most of these bakeries do, so stopping by before work would be tough.

Absolutely delicious baked goods and beautiful cakes! I will definitely be ordering all of our family's celebration cakes from here! Carlene is an artist!
