Oyster happy hour daily 3p to 6p. BOGO!
Eventide
The building is clean and has a pretty, modern interior. Customer service was fine nothing particularly warm, but not rude either, just neutral.
We came on a Friday around 5 p.m., and the restaurant was surprisingly empty with only two other tables occupied. We didn’t have a reservation but were seated quickly. However, booths are only available if you have a prior reservation.
I ordered the lobster stew ($23), which was very small about 8 ounces. Flavor-wise, it was good: lots of mushrooms, a few large chunks of lobster, and a taste closer to coconut curry rather than tomato. It’s not creamy, which I didn’t mind, but the portion felt extremely small for the price. I’d estimate there was about one ounce (or less) of lobster.
We also tried the clam chowder ($17 for 8 ounces). This was very liquid and not creamy at all, tasting mostly like potatoes which there were plenty of. We found only one whole clam; I expected diced clams, so that was disappointing.
One thing that really stood out was the automatic 5% charge added to the bill, regardless of group size or order amount. The receipt states this goes toward adjusting kitchen staff wages. On top of that, you’re still expected to tip your server, which is fine but combined with the extra charge, it didn’t feel justified given the portion sizes and overall experience. Paying $23 for essentially lobster broth doesn’t make the added fee feel reasonable.
Lastly, parking is not easy to find near this location.

A great little place.
It’s unpretentious, the food is great and the service is easygoing.
Ask for the oyster tasting notes if you get a chance. This was a nice touch when we visited.

If you love oysters, you must visit Eventide. I visited late one recent afternoon and learned they had a special of buy one get one on the oysters. Wow! They had 6 MA oysters, some from ME, RI and CT on the menu that day. I had a perfect dozen from MA. I also tried the Butternut squash-crab soup which was delectable. I also tried the lobster roll which was not like the typical MA lobster roll -this one was in browned butter. It was also a great choice. The wait staff was engaging, very friendly and helpful with menu related questions. I cannot wait to go to Eventide again.

I was looking forward to clam chowder but it came out as more of a salty soup. It lacked flavor and I felt it overcompensated with salt. The servers were nice, but they gave me the check while I was still eating, even through I was there at lunch and it was pretty empty. It felt like they were trying to get me out really quickly. Worst of all, I only sat there for 35ish minutes and my hair and clothes reak of shellfish.

Cocktails, oysters and clam chowder were amazing. Best lobster roll I've ever had. Be aware portions are pretty small.

Delicious high-end and signature sea food Boston can provide! However, I feel that the portions were unreasonably small..

Eat here only if you're not hungry. Very small portions, albeit tasty. Atmosphere was plain, with little character. Service was adequate but the server got completely flustered with several mistakes on the bill. I left feeling like maybe this wasn't the best choice for lunch.

Not a great experience. We sat by a door that kept opening and blowing in freezing air. The food had tiny portions, especially the lobster roll sandwich, which wasn’t very good. Perhaps it would have been better if we were drunk, which it sounds like is their main clientele.

Food and service were great. I do have some reservations about the pricing. Gluten free lobster roll was a Huge plus, and our server told us most of the menu could be made gluten free (they have a separate GF fryer). Small servings, but still delicious.

Everything was mid and salty as hell. The oysters were ok but it’s hard to mess up oysters unless you’re serving straight up dead ones. The clam chowder was loaded with the ocean, too fishy, but was salvaged by the pork bits. The scallop gyoza was just 90% gyoza dough with a single small scallop in the middle. The lobster roll was just loaded with salt, it would’ve been better if it didn’t try to clog our arteries.
Now, the service… one server gave us an extra table to hold the oyster plate and another one came to take the table back, quite aggressively too. Not to mention, that same server also acted so condescending to me, mansplaining to me what a dozen is as if I don’t already know. Such a whatever experience 😒😒😒😒 I would say to avoid at all cost.
Update: after 1h30 rest and a drink, I’m still thirsty from all the salt they crammed into their food, beginning to suspect they have a salt sponsor.

Their clam chowder isn’t like most others — it’s not thick, but light and soupy. The style is very similar to the one at Hog Island Oyster Co. in San Francisco. The lobster roll looks small, but it’s packed with meat. I really enjoyed it.

I can’t recommend this place enough! We LOVED our waitress Zoe, so helpful with all the recommendations and such a great and joyful person. Overall we had a perfect lunch and the lobster roll was the best of our life (I also liked that it wasn’t giant as I always see in America). Even the desserts, which were soft serve and hand apple pie, were amazing. I’m very happy I decided to come here. For what regards the prices, I think they reflect the quality, and compared Europe, the oyster’s prices were lower!
