Got the spicy dan dan pork. Overall, fine enough but not something that I’d recommend friends go out of their way for. I also shared the vegan agadashi tofu dish with someone and found it just ok. Very large portions. Noodles slightly overcooked compared to my preference (not bouncy).

I had the Sukiyaki Udon here and it was absolutely magnificent! The udon's broth was rich and flavorful, and all the ingredients were distinct, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The portion size and price point were both very reasonable, as it’s not “cheap,” but the quality thoroughly justifies the cost.

More than just food, what stood out most to me was the level of hospitality. The servers in this place were passionate and attentive, frequently checking in to make sure everything was going well and even refilling my water without me having to ask. It made this whole dining experience feel warm and welcoming.

If I could suggest one thing, I’d love to see a bit more East Asian ambiance, by maybe having some popular background music to match the amazing udons.

Overall, a wonderful experience! I highly, HIGHLY recommend Futago Udon if you’re looking for a cozy, comfortable, and tasty Japanese dining place in Boston!

Futago has a great variety of flavorful bowls of udon that are all fantastic for a cold day!

Food: Every udon I’ve tried has been a blast of flavor. The broth clings perfectly to the udon noodles making the bouncy noodles the star. The creamy uni bowl was my favorite flavor so far but it’s almost too rich to finish in one sitting.

Service: The wait staff is very friendly and work hard to seat you in a reasonable wait time.

Atmosphere: The paints on the wall and the wooden furniture makes for a cozy space, but since the seating space is maxed out it can get a little noisy.

This was a fine udon restaurant. I would not go out of my way to visit but happy to have a meal there if in the neighborhood. The cold mentaiko udon was probably our favorite in terms of flavor. Udon noodle texture is fine but not notable. The smoked duck tasted a little gamey (almost tasted like liver?). Fried chicken was disappointing - it was thin and not crispy.

Based on recent reviews, it’s pretty obvious customers are consistently having a negative experience with one of the waitresses. I’ve been coming regularly to this restaurant for the past year. The food is great but yesterday I had such an awful experience that I don’t think I’ll be returning. The waitress was incredibly rude, shaming my friend and I for not ordering more food and taunting us (also the restaurant was nearly empty) We ordered ~$40 worth of food. She also slammed our check on the table, gave us nasty glares, and was nice to tables who ordered extra food.
The food is great, the other waitress was nice. But if you come here, don’t be surprised if you’re treated poorly.

Wow the bowls are huge and beautiful. The flavors are really good, the one downside is the noodles aren't as chewy as I would expect from udon noodles. The cold mentaiko udon didn't have the taste I expected, it was more of a refreshing crab taste than a creamy mentaiko taste.

Tons of great udon options, huge bowls too. Bright and good energy inside due to how busy it is. Got two of the vegetarian ones to try, honestly go with the Hot Sansai over the Kitsune. Posted pics down below. It’s the same you just get one more veggie type with the Sansai (unless you don’t like mountain veggies which are like mushrooms and more bitter style sprout veggies).

Hella busy all the time, but they move people in and out pretty quick. Would recommend for 2 people. Can do 4 but it’s a smaller venue.

As a returning customer from out of town it pains me to have to say this but I did not have an enjoyable experience. Food was still good, ran out of uni for their signature udon entree but that’s okay that’s demand, I get it.

First I was informed, that I had to order a minimum of $15 per person with my party of 6, apparently sharing dishes with my family was not allowed. Then, I was met with a waitress to came to fill our waters, filled three cups and to help her from reaching I passed the other 3 cups to fill, she immediately made an annoyed face with me.

Right before paying we gave a card and the same waitress took the card, we changed our mind and decided to pay with cash instead, the waitress again became annoyed again and brought the check back, walked away and then proceeded to whisper something to the other waitress.

Overall the experience left me feeling disrespected and good food does not make up for that.

We ordered the creamy uni undon but there was no uni.. I think if they’re missing and ingredient they shouldn’t charge full price for the meal . Also got the kimchi udon it was pretty good. The kimchi udon was under the lunch special we ordered it before 3 but it wasn’t honored . Also they had a 15$ per person minimum.

However the waitress was pretty rude , I didn’t get her name she gave my boyfriend’s parents a nasty look with her eyebrow raised when they asked to pay in cash instead.
The food wasn’t bad , but the service was not hospitable.

The Creamy uni udon is delicious and food is quite good but the service and disrespect is enough to not come back.

First there’s a $15 dollar minimum per person. What kind of dumb rule is that?
We ordered before the lunch special time ended; however, the item was not honored on the bill.

We were paying our bill with card initially and decided to pay in cash last minute because it’s better for restaurants, so we called the waitress back to do so. Upon coming back with the check, she gave us the nastiest stare and proceeds to whisper something to the other waitress.

To the same waitress mentioned who cleaned our table of my party of 6 around 3:30 PM today and gave us a dirty look, you can considering quitting your job. Service and hospitality is not for you. If you check the newest reviews, I am not the only one who feels the same about the service which is disappointing because the food is good.

The uni cream udon has excellent flavor, and the broth is not thick. We had to pay a little extra because they only have premium uni at that time.
Takoyaki was crispy on the outside and gooey in the inside with good amount of octopus.
