About L Street Tavern

L Street Tavern is a small but lively Irish bar in Boston with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The space is intimate but has a strong character, serving a good selection of beers, spirits, and the occasional cocktail. The bar is famous for its connection to the movie "Good Will Hunting," and many visitors come to see the spot where scenes were filmed. It has all the beer and liquor you might want, and the décor includes pictures and quotes on the tables that add to its charm. While there is no food served, the bar creates a nostalgic feeling, reminiscent of old-time pubs like Kelsey's. The bar features plenty of TVs, making it a great place to watch sports such as the Red Sox and US Open tennis while enjoying a quick drink. It is also a welcoming place for families, with kids seen grabbing a quick drink at the "Good Will Hunting" table, though visiting earlier in the day is recommended for a quieter experience. The layout has changed slightly with high seating replacing low tables, but overall, the look remains similar to how it appeared in the movie. Service is quick, with bartenders efficiently serving drinks, although some may seem tired or less friendly. The receipts are not itemized, which might be confusing, but it does not detract from the overall experience. The bar often turns down sound during half-time of the Pats game to play music, and staff sometimes offer complimentary calzones, adding to the friendly vibe. Visitors from out of town often feel welcomed, with good service even when busy after a baseball game. The management is accommodating when things get hectic, and the entertainment and food are appreciated. The restrooms are surprisingly clean and renovated, with a noticeable but manageable detergent smell. This bar is one of the few still standing from the movie and offers an authentic, nostalgic atmosphere for both fans and newcomers alike.

We visited from GA and Mr Medico was very friendly and an all around great guy!

Best spot in Southie for a pint, an earful, and local camaraderie

Charged $140. When I asked for an itemized receipt, bartender got confrontational and said he couldn’t; tipped $10, called me a cheap. That heated me up; pulled up the law stating he needed to provide the itemized copy, told me to piss off, called us an idiot and not to come back. Gladly will not, go goodwill hunting literally anywhere else 🤠
