Brought my friend here for the first time to try the chain while in Boston, with the impression that this was a popular and well-credited establishment. The appetizers we ordered were not good at all (tuna nachos in particular were horrible), and the drinks weren’t good either. The reason we came in the first place was for the lobster mac and cheese, but the server completely forgot about it. We didn’t care to remind her because the appetizers were extremely sub par and not worth the price at all. I would highly recommend finding another place to dine. This chain has gone downhill over the years, and are there are numerous other great seafood restaurants in the area that will be much more worth your time and money.

A visit to Legal Sea Foods is almost mandatory whenever we visit the Boston area. They never disappoint, and our latest visit was even better than most for two reasons. First, they had a special promotion on a steamed lobster dinner (oh yeah!). Plus, the service and suggestions from our server Martin made this visit exceptional. Get the Boston Cream Pie for dessert!! Thank you Martin, and great job Legal Sea Foods!

My friend had scallops, mashed potatoes and a side salad and really enjoyed her meal. I had a lobster tail and a California roll. They have many GF items on their menu and are very accommodating and careful around dietary restrictions. The service was so fantastic. Omar was our server. Thank you, Legal!

Excellent food! Excellent service! Maria was our waitress and she was fantastic. Not only gave us great recommendations on what to order, but was super sweet to our daughter, and even gave us general recommendations for Boston. The ambience was also nice. It was a little loud but not in a bad way. There was good music playing, people laughing and enjoying their time out together, just fun overall. Would definitely go back!

This is my second special= lobster last month and oysters this month. I made a reservation which was readily found when I checked in. When my friend arrived a later, the res could not be found. He had to wander the restaurant to find me. The raw oysters were superb! Wonderful warm rolls. The oysters Rockefeller were cooked to death - almost sent them back the service was not good - I had to ask THREE times for another carafe of Albarino. (delish!) The bartender, our waiter, finally stated he needed to get another bottle from the wine cellar. That should have been rectified during start of his shift inventory. Or he should have asked a manager for assistance as he was busy.

We had a big multi lingual group and our serving staff were so very patient with us. The food was exceptional. Boston lobster is officially by our group opinion better than French lobster!!

Service was horrible. We had at least 3 service people and had to ask for everything, including dessert and the bill. One of the 3 ice cream bonbons was cracked and partially thawed; they tasted awful besides. The noise - we could barely hear each other and the TVs in every line of sight were terribly distracting. Fish & chips - fish was overcooked and fries tasteless. Sushi - I've never had worse. If you can't hire someone who knows how to make it - take it off your menu. We are locals - Legal is off our list.

The place seems a bit dated. The chowder, while delicious was tepid warm at best. The house salad was supposed to have an apple vinegrette and it only tasted like heavy vinegar. My husband had the tuna burger which he enjoyed.

We are from out of town and met some friends here for a catch up dinner. The service was a bit slow, which was concerning because we had tickets for the theater and it became a little bit stressful. It was a little surprising that they couldn’t get our food out more quickly because it was an early dinner and there were very few tables occupied.

Having said that, everybody seemed to enjoy their food. This is a small chain that I understand was recently acquired by a private equity firm. Usually private equity investors are focused on cutting expenses, and that could explain why there was not enough staff to effectively operate the restaurant. Our server was quite pleasant and she was trying hard. We ate indoors because it was a little bit warm outside and we had a comfortable booth toward the back, which was quiet and good for our conversation. I think in Boston, you probably have a lot of superior options for seafood, but this was close to our theater and it fit the bill.

Dietary restrictions: Not sure how flexible they would be with dietary restrictions, but there are a lot of different items on the menu

Parking: This is a busy area of Central Boston so you need to plan your parking

Kid-friendliness: If your kids like seafood, they should be OK here and there are also some non-seafood options on the menu

Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant seem to have plenty of wheelchair accessible options

Six of us (4 visiting from the West coast) had a very fine Boston dinner. Everything was very good and the service (Jean) was exemplary.

Parking: We parked in the garage under the Common for $16. It's a 5-7 minute walk.

We had steamed lobster with fries and corn, and grilled scallops with broccolini and mashed potatoes. EVERYTHING was delicious! Yum! Service and atmosphere weren't too shabby, either. MWAH!!
