I generally really like metropolis. Their food iand ambience are great. The biggest challenge with it is the food comes out very quickly. We ordered our entrée in within three minutes. It was already in front of us. They consistently do this.
Hostess was not great and waitress was pretty poor. Interrupted conversations repeatedly without even pausing a second, rushed to remove dishes before we were done, and even literally took a utensil from one diner's hand before she could set it down. Yet took forever with the check. Other than that the food was excellent (as always) and we love the place. Just a note that the service was pretty subpar last night.
This compact bistro in Boston's South End delivers well above its intimate size. The warm welcome, the lively bar and restaurant and the wrappings for well made cocktails, wonderfully chosen wines and inventive cuisine - from small plates to entrees. Both a neighborhood joint and for a night out on the town, this is a great choice.
