Nice atmosphere and cocktails were pretty good. We were given 90 minutes for the table at the beginning and that was enforced, though not a lot of people came in while we were there. Didn't order any food so can't comment on that

Pros:
Drinks are creative and delicious- my favorite was impossible odds
Drinks come out quickly
Pow pow shrimp was a solid appetizer (6 decent sized shrimp with aioli sauce)
Lighting is nice and dim, cozy ambience

Cons:
Not a fan of our server. Felt very rushed/cold toned/dismissive. They couldn’t remember how to describe one of the drinks. However, I’m trying to be understanding that they were also managing the entrance system and multiple tables at once.

QR code menu set up is annoying, especially as there are multiple separate pages to click through, and it’s easy to forget what the drink is called by the time the server comes around. Just could be improved for efficiency sake to have printed menus. When I couldn’t remember what it was called, the server left and actually didn’t come back to ask me again (I had to ask someone else for my drink).

The entrance - look for signs that say “quiet quiet please.” You’ll call a number to get in. but then once seated, every time the door opens a blast of freezing air comes into the bar- quite distracting, especially as we were seated close to the entrance on a frigid day.

Some of the cocktails (eg stolen lighter) have a mountain of ice overflowing the glass. Again, maybe that’s for aesthetic purposes but disappointing, too.

I almost don't want to write a review so I keep Offsuit a secret, 10 out of 10 - amazing everything

The idea of finding an authentic speakeasy in Boston surfaced after watching the movie Sinners. With a little help from Google, Offsuit was recommended. Once I pinned the location on Google Maps and saw the marker tucked away down an alley that looked like something Batman would patrol during his Gotham duties, I locked in the reservation immediately. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a large black steel door with a sign whispering reminders to keep quiet due to sleeping neighbors. And hey, what can I say? You don't draw attention to yourself at a speakeasy. That defeats the whole point. After dialing the contact number listed in tiny print outside the entrance, I was met by the speakeasy host, who, by the way, was phenomenal from the initial greeting to final checkout. Inside, the vibe was dark and intoxicating, smelling of excitement and positive energy pouring from patrons locked into meaningless, but satisfying conversations while sipping eccentric drinks. The music couldn't have been more perfect. The DJ spun a seamless mix of genres that not only kept patrons happy but also felt intentional almost as if it was designed to prevent the walls themselves from snitching on the speakeasy's location. The most memorable part of the night came when I scanned a QR code that revealed four tarot-style cards on my phone each one hiding part of the drink menu. After tapping through the cards, revealing and re-revealing options for what felt like the hundredth time, I decided to fully surrender to the experience and order the most eye-catching drink on the menu: a strawberry margarita priced at $??. At that price, I expected it to arrive in a pitcher. But after the attentive host explained it was crafted with special ingredients, I was locked in. Reserve THIS SPEAKEASY ASAP!

The duck was fantastic, while the steak frite portion size was underwhelming. Drinks were delicious, though pricing seemed high. Overall, glad I tried it, but won't be visiting regularly

The place was amazing and the one waiter was so lovely and helpful. The drinks were lovely and very reasonably priced. The only thing that almost ruined the whole experience was one waitress. The Asian girl with the tattoos was incredibly rude from the moment we arrived. She went out of her way to be unhelpful especially when it came to the bill. Usually for a big group of people they don’t split the bill but can put different amounts on different cards but this waitress refused to do that and insisted that we split it equally when one member had already paid her individual amount. When we questioned the other lovely waiter came up to us and asked if there was an issue and he said of course we could all put different amounts on different cards and I said oh so it is possible and she said yes it’s just a hassle. This is in terms of each person getting vastly different priced items and splitting equally would simply be super unfair and not make sense. She fought us on this for 10 minutes straight refusing to budge when it was that simple and possible to make things easier for us. She was clearly being difficult for no reason. The other man made it seem so easy and simple and was more than happy to help! Otherwise it was a lovely place and would recommend

A true Boston speakeasy. Such a fun experience. Delicious bites, great cocktails (if you like sweet, do the Stolen Lighter), and super inventive vibes.

In short: just go.

You might need to call to get in, consult other reviews for details on locating the door. Reservations are wise, but they squeezed me in Wednesday night when I showed up right at open.

High-calibur cocktails and tasty food in a cool atmosphere.

This was such a fun experience! We struggled finding the door to get in but that was half the fun! Such a cozy romantic place with great music! Our server helped us with all of our drink questions !

edit 11/10: management had responded to my review apologizing for not getting good service while seated at the bar and i didn’t mention where i sat in my interview. i had mentioned that i had the same experience as other poc who had dined at this cocktail bar. i was never sat at the bar i was seated at the table and still my experience at this establishment was below subpar and management continues to dismiss that people of different color are served differently here.

had a similar experience to george when i visited this restaurant. had to flag down the bartender at least two times to ask for the check as well as give him the check because no one was really paying attention to us. i very much understand being a busy environment and being short staffed and such but it was basically as if me and the other individual i was with didn’t exist. subpar drinks. it was also ridiculously loud in there noise control is an issue and i don’t mean the patrons in the restaurant i mean the music. music didn’t vibe at all with the aesthetic of the speakeasy it was if someone was just playing a playlist off their phone the tune kept on going in and out. i wouldn’t be inclined to visit here again, i believe there are better speakeasy out here in boston

edit: as i continue to look through the reviews of this speakeasy it is clear that there is a common denominator to those who didn’t have a great experience at offsuit. as a black person myself its frustrating seeing management dismiss concerns that patrons are displaying about the service they received as a POC. i hope that in the future management takes time to listen to patrons concerns and not dismiss the experience they had at this establishment

Our server was excellent. He spent time explaining the drinks and the process behind making them, and giving his personal recommendations along with popular choices. We felt guided throughout the menu and taken care of. The drinks and food tasted incredible. If you like speakeasies or cool cozy spots, highly recommend.
