Salty Dog Seafood Grille & Bar

I was a bit worried that given this restaurant's location right at Quincy Market that it would be touristy. My experience was anything but that. It was really hot out and I changed my plans for dinner because I wasn't in the mood for a heavy pasta meal from the north end.

I arrived around 5 p.m. and was immediately greeted and seated in the shade on their outside patio. Sofia was great as my server. She was fun, pleasant, and made great recommendations about food and drink. She has an excellent sense of humor.

I stated off with 6 oysters, and she brought me a bottle of spiced mignonette that was excellent. I ordered the lobster baked that included scallops, shrimp, and cod baked with lobster in a butter sauce with bread crumb topping. It came with coleslaw and I ordered a side of steamed vegetables. Every bite was delicious.

I also ordered their house beer which I learned is crafted by Harpoon Brewing exclusively for the restaurant. It was an excellent pairing to the seafood.

Getting to the restroom was a bit of an adventure as it is inside downstairs and a trek through part of the kitchen.

I'm sure this place gets insanely crowded during peak season, but it was perfect when I went in June. I would certainly go back.

Do not bother. Tasteless lobster rolls for $38 each. Fries were cold ad soggy. Unclean dining area

Amazing seafood but completely butchered by the cook. Way too much butter in the Lobsterman seafood casserole, fries under cooked for one dish. Too much Mayo in a lobster roll and too much vinegar and not enough mayo in coleslaw. This place has good seafood too…very disappointing

A Quincy Market staple since 1972. I had the Seafood Fra Diavolo and it was the freshest I've ever had. I didn't know the difference until I ate at Salty Dog.

Everything was mid. Nothing exceptional. Food was just ok. Drink didn’t have enough alcohol. The server was nice. Oysters were ok. Shrimp and fries were meh. Fries had no salt. It’s underground so it feels really dark inside. Really overpriced. It wasn’t terrible but also nothing special.

A hole in the wall you are likely to walk passed but if you stop, you're in for some of the best seafood the Northeast has to offer.

Went in for a quick lunch, had a burger and a chicken sandwich, the service was great as well as the food, but it can be a bit pricey. Had a positive experience regardless.

Been coming here for about 3 years. No matter the servers or the day, the seafood is always fried to perfection, beer is cold, food is seasoned, and service is phenomenal. I have NEVER had a bad day here. Extremely consistent.

Our bartender Matt was seriously amazing! He chatted with us and gave us some spots to hit in Boston while we visited! Such a cool and awesome atmosphere! Definitely would recommend

Overpriced! Prices DO NOT match the food! Don’t waste your time or money.The server was nice that’s about all I can say positive about the experience. For the amount they charge you would expect an actual plate not a paper boat. The fish & chips were subpar at best and the worst oysters I’ve had in a long time.

Salty Dog was a fun lunch experience.

I just stumbled on this place wanting to get a bite to eat before heading out. It was a Sunday in February, and completely empty inside. It has a cool historical seaside sort of vibe. The inside area is small, so seating is limited.

I had the crab cake sandwich, it was just okay. The crab was not super fresh. The fish and chips were apparently very good. The waitress actually brought over some sort of chili oil condiment and recommended it for the fries, I wouldn't have thought of it but it was pretty good.
