Stopped here visiting from out of town. Guy helping us was super super nice. I think he was the owner. We were the first ones there (rainy Monday), he turned on all the game machines for us, put on some music, set us up with darts for the dartboard, unlocked the pool table. When he had to step out he asked someone else to make sure we had everything we needed. He had a sweet friendly dog who was lovely. I had a great time.

Hands down best bar I have ever been to

Loved this bar! Loved meeting Cardinal The crew here made 2 midwesterners feel really at home! But, please put chips back on the wall!

Most of the employees are nice, but the owner of this place, Jerry, is very rude without cause. If you've never been here, I would avoid it. I don't usually post negative reviews, but this place is sort of shady. I do not recommend.

Good people, cold beers, and Jerry is the best barkeep. Everything I hoped a "real" Southie Irish bar to be.

Old school. Great place for a pint. Friendly bartender. I'll be back!

Was warmly welcomed by the regulars. Great experience while in South Boston.
First time I stopped in this place Jerry was working behind the bar, and just knew this would be a place I’d be coming back to.

Pool, Golden T, boxing game, cheap drinks, juke box, Keno, funny bartenders. What more could you ask for in a local tavern?

The Shannon tavern is everything it should be and it’s perfect. A welcoming neighborhood bar with friendly bar staff, good prices, Keno on display, and pool, boxing, and golden tee. They’ll happily put the audio for the game on as well.
Christopher Freiss
Friendly locals and relatively quiet while I was there. Will have to return with folks soon!

The tap selection is perfect, something for everyone, even the IPA drinkers (please don’t order an IPA) but Jerry made the visit a 5 star stop. Skip all the Irish bars on your travel blogs and have a few pints/shots with the amazing locals at Shannon Tavern.
Bartender was hilarious
Great bar.
Jerry is the best !!
