It was quiet when we went, the food was good, and the staff were attentive and welcoming. It's a handy location, 5 mins from Boston South train station.

south street diner!!! what a lovely establishment! i must say, they really put the CAKE in pancakes...they were def on the cakey side, but the chocolate chips were warm and melted which i loved. additionally, the chocolate milk was yummy tummy in my tummy! i chugged it in 5 seconds flat. however, the food was made scarily fast. the food arrived at our table literally 5 minutes after we ordered, if i'm being frank, that was rather unsettling to me, because how...?!?! another thing that wasn't super duper was how the employees seemed rather distracted. they were also SO loud for no reason at all. overall, i'd give this place 4/5 stars because i'm feeling extra generous today.

The “4.1” is incredible. From the outside it seems like a bad place and in fact the impression is quickly confirmed by the substance of the place. Extremely rude staff, the fat and sweaty chef looks at all the girls as if they were inflatable dolls. Our order arrives, the "Impossible" brand veg burger is absolutely NOT that brand. It was a cheap mess made with bits of corn and peas of dubious quality. The craburger only tasted like garlic and tuna. Absolutely disgusting food we ate out of hunger. Final piece: the waiter starts asking us for cash because when I paid on the card I put "No tip" and started making a big speech about tips and asking for cash in a hostile way and blocking our exit. Shameful place frequented by scum. If you are in the area to take the train, absolutely DO NOT stop here. Choose McDonald's instead! 40 dollars to eat badly and be treated even worse.

Food: Maple Pepper Fried Chicken Benedict was delicious - the poached eggs were runny and the home fries was hot, crispy and seasoned well.Service: Here is where the dining experience faltered. The waitress (Michelle) was clearly impatient, unfriendly and didn’t live up to the “friendly vibes” in the description of this diner. While taking my orders, she grabbed my menu after my food order and started to walk away when I still haven’t ordered my coffee. Then she chucked the cutlery on the counter to my side rudely, followed by my food where she just dumped the plate loudly in front of me without saying a word. She slipped the check right after my last bite, and then didn’t bother to come again even when I placed my credit card almost immediately and another waitress had to remind her that I’m done. All in all, the service was terrible unfortunately, which spoiled the diner experience as the food and vibes were quite impressive.

I have been going here for years. The owner is very rude and ignorant. I've seen him loose a whole line of customers because of rude he is. They will never get another dime from me.

Nothing exceptional but nicely made classic diner food. Really big portions at reasonable prices and the interior is fun. I will say the toilet isn't the best.I recommend the Frappés. I really liked the vanilla flavoured one.

A true diner in the heart of Boston. Very kind staff. You can watch your food get made and overall, it’s quite clean. The oil may need changing, but the fried goods still taste very well. The food tastes like home and exactly what you’d expect. It’s a true diner, not like the modern approaches.
