Quick summary: don’t go here for the coffee!

The food was great for the most part. We got the:
- lamb hash (mostly great, but the poached egg was overdone, the yolk was hard)
- fig and prosciutto panini (the pear was not ripe, too hard, but other than that the bread was great and the fig paired well with the salty prosciutto and brie)
- sour cherry danish (best thing we had, no issues here!)
- passion fruit krembo (the base was great and the cream was delicious, but it taste more like lemon than anything - we wanted passion fruit for its stronger sour taste than lemon)
Again - with the food, it was worth what we paid, really just minor things that stopped it from being all around great.

Now, seeing that this is a Cafe, I did expect good coffee, and I didn’t get good coffee or service to fix it which is the main reason I’m leaving a bad review. I should state this was my first time and I wanted to check it out, because their Instagram is full of pictures of good looking coffee.

I ordered a cortado (equal parts espresso and steamed milk with no foam). The espresso was burnt in the first one I got - when the coffee tastes like hard pretzels, it’s burnt. I told the barista if it would be possible to remake given that it was burnt and she kindly accepted - no issues there. An easy mistake to make and they agreed to fix it.

The second cortado came out quick - but both the espresso and the milk were burnt on this one. Still had the burnt taste, but you can tell that the milk is burnt by the iridescent bubbles that were in the drink. Please zoom in on the photo in the top left to see the bubbles will have a blue/green shine to them, almost like when you see oil on water.

Given that they’re pulling their espresso with a $25k+ la marzocco, it’s understandable to be disappointed here right?

After 2 burnt coffees, I figure it’s better to just get my refund and seek coffee elsewhere. So I go up to the cashier and ask for the refund. She says that she’ll get the manager to approve it and that we can wait where we were sitting. Even up to this point, not a huge problem.

We waited roughly 10 minutes and didn’t hear from anyone. And we were there around 9:30 am and I would not say that it was super busy. While we weren’t in a rush, we did have things to do, so I went back up to the cashier. When we asked for the refund again, the cashier said she had to get approval from her manager, and that the manager hadn’t given her approval yet because she was busy. This is where I take serious issue with the service.

They had a customer with a legit problem, asking for a simple refund and they “were too busy.” Are you kidding me?

The barista may not know exactly how to use the machine, but at least they were nice about trying to replace my coffee. The manager, knowing that we had a problem, not even coming to talk to us after we requested is a huge issue for a service.

In summary - don’t go to Tatte for coffee.

PS: also, quick issue, they have a pistachio latte on the menu. I asked if I could do a pistachio cappuccino instead of a latte, and they told me it wasn’t possible. Cappuccino and latte are basically the same thing. It’s just that a cappuccino has less milk, so for them not to be able to make that simple switch makes me think that they don’t really know what they’re doing with coffee.

Fantastic European-style bakery with excellent food and drink options, with it's proximity to a number of Boston's must-see institutions are major benefit.

While this place looks and sounds like the pastries will be fresh, pillowy and edible, they unfortunately are not. We had ordered coffee and a single Chocolate rose. Every single pastry, including those with meat and cheese, sit in the open, uncovered and not kept cold or hot. The chocolate rose was extremely dry, brittle and hard, like it had been sitting in the same spot overnight. While i am curious about how the other pastries are, i will not be wasting more money on something that will most likely end up in the trash. The coffee was okay, not anything fancy. I hope their kitchen prepared foods are better than the display food they serve from the behind glass.

I can't figure out why this doesn't have a higher rating?? We had so many excellent things at the cafe. Starting with the shakshuka! It was a beautiful presentation and tasted just as good. The bakery items we tried were also exceptional. We will definitely go back. How can we get a location in Denver??

The pistachio coffee was too sweet, and the pistachio flavor wasn’t strong enough. The crushed pistachios in the drink were also a bit of a choking hazard while sipping—I hope you can consider a better way to infuse the pistachio flavor into the coffee.

The pistachio croissant was delicious! And the pistachio cherry tart would be a great choice for someone who loves pistachios and has a sweet tooth.

The salmon rice bowl was tasty, but way too oily. The shakshuka was pretty good!

Everything was great! Service, food, and coffee were all excellent! I recommend the seasonal shakshuka with corn and spinach. We also had excellent pistachio lattes. We also enjoyed a pear gallete that was incredible. Great, friendly service that was very responsive!

Very delicious and affordable. Sunday was busy but Tuesday had no wait. The Lamb hash was delicious. The house latte chef's kiss. The ham and cheese croissant is my favorite. Can spens less than $10. Cheaper than our small town coffee shop.

I don’t know how the rating is only 4.4 - the food is delicious, the staff are kind and welcoming, and the interior is beautiful! If I lived here I would come here all the time 😍
