Finally I get to try this hyped up restaurant. I’ve been wanting to indulge my mouth with their delicious flavors.
There was a couple of red flags leading up to ordering our food. As soon as we got in, the host announced we only have about 1.5 hours to eat. Ambiance was romantic and loud. Dimly lit where you would need a flashlight to see the menu.
The kind hostess lead us to our table. She packed us nice and tight next to others (elbows to elbows) . I felt like we were getting ready for a speed dating event.
Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable with the menu. He helped us picked some of his favorite dishes. Which was pretty helpful.
Food came out pretty quickly ! It’s like they already knew what we ordered haha. Given we only have 1.5 to chat, drink and stuffed our faces while eavesdropping on other’s conversations.
I have to say I was disappointed in the food. I had very high expectations. Nothing stood out . Flavors was ok. We ordered the hanger steak and it tasted like old left over steak. Then I realized because it has blue cheese sauce on it. I’m not sure if that’s a great combination. The grilled octopus and garlic shrimp was not bad. Bone marrow was lacking the marrow. Eggplant was too sweet for my liking .
Ding ding! Our time was up! Wow that went by fast . They rushed over took our plates and moved us to the bar. The vibe at the bar wasn’t vibing. We paid and left.
Overall I wouldn’t come back. It was overhyped and tight in there with time restrictions.

We got there at 5 when it opened and that's the way to do it! Noise level was fine but by 6 it was LOUD and the place was only 75% full. My wife and I ordered a total of five dishes plus two desserts, and everything was really good. I especially recommend: - The burrata - The egg and potato omelet - The Brussels sprouts (but be sure to ask for extra sauce) The sliders were good, but they could have used more flavor. The flan for dessert was great. The chocolate churros were okay. Service was exceptionally good.
The restaurant was deceivingly smaller than what I saw in the pictures online, the music was way too loud and even though I liked the music (southern rap of the late 90's into early 00's then moved to early 00's hip hop) I didn't think it was appropriate for a nice dinner out (belated Valentines Day dinner for us) especially at the volume level it was being played at (very loud). The tables were extremely close together (had to be moved out for me to get into my seat and get past the adjacent table) and it felt like you were having dinner with the people on either side of you. The food was ok at best, patatas bravas were soggy in the middle of the dish and towards the bottom of the dish, the steak was way too salty, I found the mussels a little bland, I did however like the sliders. Service was also just ok because it was very difficult to hear the server speak and you could visibly see she was not 100% comfortable with the working conditions (volume, proximity of tables, ease to bring food to and from, etc...). Our server was doing the best with what she had to work with. Overall, I was expecting more from Toro since it's so busy and reservations are limited to 90 minutes. I heard Toro has outside seating in the warmer months, maybe that could be a more comfortable setting.
Tapas were good but underwhelming. Dishes were a bit salty
Toro is such a good vibe, the service was great, and the music was on-point. A great spot for Spanish tapas and drinks. I highly recommend the cod croquetas!

Food was okay not mind blowing. Most dishes are not well balanced you feel it's missing something. I was in Barcelona less than a year ago and this doesn't compare to any tapas restaurant I tried there in my opinion
Unfortunately disappointing experience. First, the staff couldn't locate my reservation. Admittedly I have a difficult to spell name, but still. When I tried to point to my name on their screen they told me to back off in an unwelcoming manner. The place is too noisy because of the music. The food was okay, not up to the prices they charge. We did like the eggplant dip though.
I have been a fan of this restaurant for 9 years but my recent experience at Valentines dat dinner was very underwhelming. I am sorry to say that a few dishes didn't work work me and that's not what I expect from a $300 dinner. The ambience and service was great as usual and the start dish for me was Pulpo al Plantxa. On the other hand, Albondigas was my least favorite and it lacked the flavor. I also didn't enjoy the Galician Steak Tartar. For the first time I would like to share that my experience was not satisfactory and felt extremely low value for the money.
I had booked this reservation for my partner and I for Valentine's Day, and had advertised a set menu and made the evening sound like it would be romantic. We arrived and were seated on top of other couples at communal tables and was not the romantic dinner we had anticipated. We spoke to our server, explained the situation and he was very understanding and ordered one drink before leaving. Was not the vibe for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner, but may return for a casual night out.

Probably a 4.5 but not a 5 :(
Went there for Valentine's Day. We got a really cozy corner table. The table was wobbly lol
We got their beet salad and some cabbage salad. Both were good. Then we got squash and grilled octopus. It was really nicely grilled.
We followed this up with duck breast and sea bass. Duck breast was pretty good but the seabass dish felt incomplete. It was just a small piece of fish on a plate and that's it, no sides. No onions or potatoes on the side. The duck breast had it. Was strange. Especially cuz the entire meal per person was $100.
For drinks, we got la huerta and desert rose. Loved the drinks!
For dessert, we got churros. Unfortunately, these just weren't good. They were hard and sugar coating felt over the top. No bueno~

Toro remains one of Boston’s most reliable and enduring dining rooms, delivering energy, consistency, and flavor with confidence.
The food is bold, satisfying, and built for sharing. Small plates arrive well-seasoned and properly executed, favoring depth and comfort over subtlety. Dishes are designed to land immediately—rich, savory, and craveable—and while not every plate is nuanced, the overall experience maintains momentum. The menu hasn’t dramatically evolved, but its strengths remain intact.
Service is efficient and attuned to the room’s pace. Staff manage volume well, guiding tables through the menu without slowing the experience. Hospitality feels practiced and steady rather than personal, but it supports the meal effectively.
The atmosphere is central to Toro’s appeal. The room is lively, loud, and unapologetically social. Energy builds quickly, and while conversation can compete with the noise, the buzz feels earned and intentional rather than careless.
Toro earns four stars through consistency and presence. It may no longer surprise, but it continues to deliver exactly what it promises—bold food, high energy, and a dining room that still knows how to hum
Matt and Mimi made for an amazing experience. Service was impeccable, food was incredible, servers were knowledgeable about gluten-free options. Busy Saturday night but our group of 6 felt prioritized. Highly recommend this place for the people, ambience and menu!

I LOVE this place. I come here every time I'm in Boston. You have to get the pulpo. I also love the crudo and corn. Paella is also great!
