Ab-so-lutely wonderful! If there is one Italian restaurant you go to in town, please, please, please, make it Via Cannuccia. Cannot recommend them more heartily. Everything was delectable, and of course there are favourites, but honestly it'll be hard to find anything you don't like here. Truly magnificent, great chef, warm staff, lovely environment, outstanding dishes, and an experience to remember. Bravi tutti.

Wat. A. Cook!
We have enjoyed meals all over the world and we have been to Italy numerous of times but this Italian food will stay in our memories for a very long time. Best pizza dough ever (and yes, we have enjoyed pizza in Napoli!). All other dishes we tasted (we immediately booked a second night after our first visit) were also of excellent quality. As were the charming and entertaining hosts.
Go there! 100 pct recommended

A very good dinner. Enjoyed the side salads, nice fresh greens and veggies. Also the mussels in spicy tasty broth with bread; and a sausage pizza that had delightfully fresh sausage and basil, really what pizza wishes it could be. The wine, Pinot Grigio, was well-balanced with just enough tannin to make it interesting.

Via Cannuccia: True Italian cuisine Bringing Roman Warmth to Dorchester

Tucked away in the heart of Dorchester, Via Cannuccia is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon something truly special. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re enveloped in a sense of warmth—like visiting the Roman home of an old friend who just happens to be a phenomenal chef.

Chef-owner Stefano Quaresima has created something rare in Boston: a space that is both unpretentious and extraordinary. Inspired by his Roman roots, the menu celebrates simplicity, seasonality, and deep tradition, but with a clear personal touch. Everything at Via Cannuccia feels made with love, from the perfectly textured handmade pastas to the delicate pastries gracing the brunch counter each weekend.

Dinner is a true highlight. The cacio e pepe is a revelation—silky, peppery, and deeply satisfying. The amatriciana and carbonara are equally outstanding, balancing richness with an elegant restraint that speaks to expert technique. Pizzas, baked to golden perfection in the wood-fired oven, are thin, crisp, and generously topped without ever being heavy. There’s a rustic soul to the food here, but it’s executed with the precision of fine dining.

Via Cannuccia also shines at brunch, offering an array of fresh-baked cornetti, sfogliatelle, and other pastries that rival the best in Italy. The espresso is bold and smooth, and the atmosphere—breezy, welcoming, and filled with sunlight—makes it a perfect weekend spot to linger and relax.

Service is consistently warm and attentive, with staff who are genuinely passionate about the food they’re serving. There’s a strong sense of community at Via Cannuccia; it’s the kind of place where the chef might step out of the kitchen to chat with guests, and where locals return week after week.

The interior strikes the perfect balance between cozy and contemporary, with clean lines, soft lighting, and subtle nods to Rome in the decor. It’s stylish without being overdone, inviting without trying too hard.

In a city packed with Italian options, Via Cannuccia stands out by doing something simple and deeply difficult: it feels real. Real food, real hospitality, and real heart. Whether you're a Dorchester local or visiting from across town, this is one of Boston’s best-kept culinary secrets—and one well worth discovering.

Terrible experience. Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant.

Dinner service is amazing. If you’re not checking out the brunch service you’re only getting half the story. Incredible place, highly recommend!

Bostons Top 50 for sure! Went 3x’s in a week, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Every dish from the appetizer to dessert was delicious! The flavors, fresh ingredients and presentation are exceptional. The staff were super friendly and service was top notch! Can’t wait to go back. Cheers Via Cannuccia !

This place is amazing and a very important staple in the Ashmont community. It is important for the community to support a restaurant like this, a business like this and especially a talented chef like the one we have and chef Stefano. Rarely are we graced with the artistry and the abilities of such a talent and to have him in our own backyard is simply wonderful! If taste, presentation and creativity is something that you value, make a reservation with a quickness!

This was our first time dining at Via Cannuccia and we cannot wait to go back! Sat down to some really lovely homemade (hot!) bread with cranberries and walnuts and delicious olive oil. Had a phenomenal cocktail (their take on the madame butterfly) and an excellent glass of Brunello. The pasta dishes were top notch- we both got specials (rigatoni bolognese and homemade gnocchi with frutti di mare). Portions were extremely generous. Finally, we had the chef’s speciality dessert which was kind of a mix between a crème brûlée and a tres leches cake. Maria, our server, was attentive and welcoming. This restaurant is so reminiscent of a true Italian restaurant- warm and welcoming with a mix of classic favorites and inventive twists. Cannot wait to dine again!!

I am thrilled to have a gem like Via Cannuccia in our neighborhood. Everything I have ordered was amazing. Chef Stefano's dishes are fun, creative, fresh and delicious. Their Bolognese is like a hug from Nona. My absolute favorite is their grilled octopus. I wish it was on the menu all the time.

Wheelchair accessibility: Via is accessable, but small. If you call ahead and let them know what you need they are more than happy to make sure you have the space you need.

The food was good. The pizza’s dough were just the right texture so the pizza tasted perfect. The seafood spaghetti was also good with the unique small balls of dough. There are so many people and little room, though.

It has been a looooong time since I’ve had such a mind blowing dining experience. If the exquisitely prepared and ridiculously delicious food wasn’t enough, the cozy atmosphere and attentive staff are icing on the cake. This is what dining out should be about. Worth every penny and more!
