Yunnan was a respite from the rain that let us linger over a long dinner and catch up with old friends. Authentic cuisine. Warm and well-lit. A delicious meal. We'll definitely be back.

Food is amazing! We had the Yunnan Potato Pancake but it's really taro. Also hear classic chicken and broccoli, LaLa beef, sweet sticky rice ball. Service was OK decent. Waiter was helpful in recommending dishes to us, but not the warmest. The restaurant was full, the waiters didn't rush us out. Environment and safety distance - Ambience is great. Spacious in between tables. It was full but didn't feel rushed. Noise level was good. You can hear other people's cheeriness but also able to have a private conversation.

Love Yunnan food...and tea. Was shocked that there was no puerh/pu'er on the menu, but otherwise found this place--we parked on the street a couple blocks away--to be accessible, delicious, very friendly, and authentic. The Americanization of the fish dish (i.e., removal of bones ahead of time) was impressive!

We came for lunar new year lunch, first time here, and were very impressed! We especially liked a spicy beef dish with mint, but fried tofu with peppers was very good too. Will definitely go back.

Great authentic Chinese food. We ordered yongping braised chicken, boiled fish filet in chili oil, and dali fried mushroom. All were much better than expected. Among the three, the chicken was the best; chewy but soft inside (there are huge chunk of ginger, be careful). The chicken can be bit salty, so I would recommend it with rice.Service was not exceptional, but good enough that we can enjoy the meal. The only downside would be the atmosphere. The building and furniture were outdated, and it would be much appealing to customers if they renovate the interior.Parking: Use the 2hr street parking in front of the building

I’d have to say that Yunnan Kitchen is probably one of the best Chinese food spots within the area. Whether you dine in or take out, service is impeccable. Food portions are large enough to share and is very good quality. I dined out recently closer to closing and had such a pleasant experience. They were very accommodating as I told them I had guests with me. Even added cute drawings on my take out. The jalapeño spicy beef udon would be my top pick.

Apps arrived quickly, hot, tasty Entrees took over 20 minutes after we finished apod Sweet & Sour Pork - small pieces were overcooked, so not as tender and tasty as expected. Two larger pieces were very good. Braised chicken was good

LOVE this little gem in the South End. The food is so good -- be sure to opt for the "Yunnan signature" items on the menu, rather than the more traditional options you might be more familar with. Try the Stir Fried Rice Cake, the Dali Fried Mushroom, the Dali Fried Pea Jelly, Grandma's Potato, or the various dishes with longhorn pepper -- some of my favorites. The service is great, and the atmosphere is comfortable, unassuming, and unpretentious. The only downside here is the lack of a full bar license, so drink options are limited to beer or wine. But nothing goes better with this food, especially the spicier options, than a nice cold beer.

Loved the food - stir fries rice cakes and the boiled fish with picked veg were particularly delicious IMO. Prices are very reasonable. 5 dishes is too much for 2 people unless you want lottttts of leftovers.

Do you think you have had the best Chinese food anywhere? Nope. Not until you have tried Yunnan kitchen. I have never ever ever had Chinese food like this. Do not be put off by how much we paid. We ordered a loooot of food. The prices are super cheap!Vegetarian options: Lots of tasty options. The tofu with long horn peppers is spicy and yummy. Also the potato pancakes with chili flakes.
