I only went here to pick my food up. The food was delicious! Unlike other places whose ‘extra spicy’ is very mild, their extra spicy (ordered the panang curry with tofu) actually had heat, which is great. Very decent mango sticky rice too! Really hoping to eat here again.
I was really sad to see Rice Away close down and was really skeptical and curious to see what would occupy the space. I am glad to say that this place still honored space to still be a Thai restaurant. Went here to celebrate a birthday and my family was really impressed by the food. Nakhon Southern Thai is a Thai restaurant in Brighton center that offers plenty of traditional standbys and less common authentic dishes. The food is flavorful and rich, with big portions. The menu is very authentic and very reasonably priced. The restaurant has a very good atmosphere and felt very clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and spoke fluent Thai.
Reviews mention the panang curry with tofu had actual heat, and the mango sticky rice was very decent. The Pad Mah was a favorite, with noodles packed with flavor, and the Beef Massaman Curry was filled with aromatics and a thick, rich curry that was perfectly spiced. The sea bass was really good. The jungle fried rice was really good, the Musaaman curry was very good, and the cashew chicken was tasty with a curry, though the chicken was a bit hard and dry. The khao mok was exactly as remembered from home in Thailand, with soft and flavorful rice, juicy and tender grilled meat, and a perfect sweet-and-sour dipping sauce. The crispy duck dish was just the right amount of spicy and savory. The Thai iced tea came all mixed. This place is halal.
