I was in Cambridge visiting my family. My dad wanted some egg foo young which he hadn’t had for awhile. I tried a few restaurants before Mary Chung’s said they could make it. When I picked up my order, I was asked how I knew they had egg foo young since it’s not on the menu…also that their chef can make anything he’s that talented. Guess what? It was the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot. I will definitely return.
Mary chungs is the best chinese food in Boston. They are not reopen for dining as it is only run by the couple themselves. Mary has been a staple to the cambridge community for over 30 years. Thank you for staying open!! If your in cambridge you have to stop by for take out.
Still the best, most flavorful Chinese food anywhere in the vicinity. Their sauces are sublime!!! Dumpling sauce, peanut sauce, duck sauce, everything. Good generals too. Thank you for so many years of consistent quality service.
It’s been 30 some Years since I’ve eaten here. So this is a nostalgia review. I now live on the west coast near Richmond BC where you can find Chinese food people travel from Hong Kong for. It’s that good. I’ve never found anything like the Soan la shoa choa and Dun dun noodles served at Mary’s. They were that good. Reviews suggest the recipes and preparation have been passed down. May the legacy continue. I hope that I will someday have the chance again.
I ordered a beef dish and soup. The soup had almost no flavor, mostly just hot water and the beef was chewy. The food just overall did not have very much flavor.
Been going here my entire life, it's still my favorite restaurant, period. Hands down. Enough said.
Dun dun noodles my favorite dish but I’ve never had anything here that wasn’t delicious!
Did take out a couple of times and it's delicious! Going back for sure!
Honestly, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Or it was?Refusing dine-in service when pretty much every other single restaurant in the country has reopened is cheap and lazy. Perhaps they don't want to re-hire waitstaff? Quality isn't the same for takeout, and for me (I now only visit Boston occasionally - don't live here) basically makes it impossible to enjoy their food.
Currently only offering takeout, but it was delicious. We had suan la chow show , which are wontons in a spicy chili sauce, I think the heat in this could kill off any Covid infection, delicious. I have not had thus sauce anywhere else, I could drink it from a mug I so liked it. Yang Show fried rice, not greasy, spicey green beans and dry cooked sliced beef, all delicious dishes. Highly recommend this place.

Mary Chung's is some of the best Chinese food in the Boston area. They do the staples like fried rice and lo mein really well but, what sets Mary Chung's apart is the Dun Dun noodles. The peanut sauce for the Dun Dun noodles is VERY spicy so best to order plenty of white rice.
Mary Chung’s never fails! By far my favorite affordable, comforting Chinese-American restaurant in the area. Their Peking duck is one of my favorite special occasion treats. The Dun Dun noodles are another highlight. Whenever anyone asks for a restaurant recommendation in Cambridge, this is the top of the list.
Wowie. The food was unbelievably great. No dining in. We did enjoy sitting at the tables across from the fire station, enjoying the sun.
Food was decent, prices online do not reflect actual prices. Was charged $10 more than what the prices were online. Owner of the business said that there's nothing he can do about the prices that are posted online which is absolute BS. He also claimed that lots of people come in complaining about the difference in pricing. Which means they know and choose to do absolutely nothing about it.
The online-facing menu does not reflect the real prices. Expect to be hit with an eye-popping bill. I got three modestly sized dishes for lunch and was charged ~$55.
