We didn’t order so 3/5 is as low as I can go but I went with my girlfriend at the late night, and the vibe was WOOF. Like big screen menus, no music, stares from the workers, and the ice cream looked like it came straight off a truck and the lid was just popped off. We turned straight around. Change my mind that this is very basic-nothing special ice cream.

So far, the best ice cream in Boston.
Toscanini has quite the reputation in Boston, so I figured I needed to try it. The shop is located near Cambridge, right across the river.
First off, hats off to the staff. Super nice, allowed me to try several flavours before deciding. I first tried the kulfi with cardamom, pistachios and almonds. Absolutely amazing, bold flavours and fantastic creamy texture.
I then tried the salted caramel. This is when I knew this place was no joke. Usually ice cream either don’t put enough salt, or put too much sugar. Toscanini had the perfect balance. It was amazing.
Finally I tried their most famous flavour: 3B, which stands for Brown Butter, Brown Sugar and Brownie. This was a show stopper. The brownie piece were delicious. The brown butter brought a certain nuttiness which paired perfectly with the caramelized brown sugar. Best ice cream I’ve had in a long long time.
I ended up taking the 3B and the salted caramel, but the kulfi honestly was just as good.
This is a phenomenal ice cream parlour, definitely worth a detour if you’re in Boston.

Unique and tasty ice cream, but a few draw backs. Expensive, small portions, the cups are too small, spoons too flimsy, and there is a three sample limit which really drags on the offerings of new flavors to try.

Dear Owner, PLEASE BRING BACK THE GRAPENUT RAISIN, I’ll settle for seasonal! When I came to this country in the 90s we would drive 45min just because this was the ONLY ice cream store that made this flavor! Toscanini is “The Best” ice cream store and is a staple in Central Square. My family loved the Brothers who owned it back then they were friendly! Let me know if and when you will bring it back. Ohhhhhh!!! who remembers when Toscanini’s would put the chocolate heart on top of your ice when you bought a quart …the good ole days!

This ice cream shop has tons of unique flavors you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Portion sizes for great for the price. Not enough clean seating outside though.

I need to speak up about this…but the 899 location has a very rude and ignorant employee. The woman behind the counter with big eye lashes and blonde ends in her hair is completely unprofessional. I’ve noticed her many times before while visiting. She appears to be in her mid-30s and was rude to me and my family when we simply just asked for samples. We asked for samples, she rolled her eyes and refused to provide any. Additionally, I was waiting for someone to take my order and I noticed her giggling with her other coworkers, ignoring me, and not taking my order. I also saw another female worker giving out samples, and she commanded her to stop giving out samples. What a shame. Whoever hired her needs to fire her immediately! This is unacceptable. I thought this was a family friendly shop where everyone was welcome. Back in the day, it was not like this. I have been coming here for 20 years. This is not okay. Please take some action.

Employee looked at her and said “nah it’s kinda busy right now” but let other patrons order multiple flavors right behind her. To his defense he was by himself but that’s still pathetic customer service.
