We went to Burtons first and it was a 90 minute wait so we picked Legals as usually was good in the past. It wasn’t very busy which we were surprised as Derby was. Wait staff were very nice and we were seated right away. Lots of empty tables which we thought was strange. Well we found out why. Got the fried pickles, were ok, not great. Always look forward to the rolls and so sad-when they finally came out after the appetizer it was as though they weren’t cooked all the way...
Ok, understanding that this was 'Chowder Day' and the take out line was packed.... The clam chowder was good, HOWEVER, the initial bowl brought was cold. The waitress apologized and brought new ones. Which were lukewarm. Too bad, I do love their chowder. I will say, had the right flavor, visible clams and not too heavy on the potatoes. I had steamed mussels - very garlicky and lemony (YUM) but I should have asked for extra bread for the juice. Trust me, ask for extra...
Smiling server, Victoria, was prompt & efficient! We enjoyed our lunch, including a healthy quinoa salad w/ grilled salmon & a Legal lunch combo as shown in the pics - highly recommend!
