China PR is a restaurant that offers a unique blend of Chinese and Puerto Rican cuisine. Customers have consistently praised the food, with the mofongo (fried green mashed plantains) with fried meat and the virgen piña colada being particularly popular. The fried meat is always fresh and delicious, while some suggest that the mofongo with pollo al ajillo (garlic-flavored chicken) could use more garlic. The generous portions ensure that one order is often enough for two people. The rice is well-cooked, flavorful, and not overly MSG-laden, making it a five-star choice. Highlights also include tostones infused with garlic and crispy sesame chicken. Many customers find the food close to authentic Puerto Rican flavors and frequently compare it favorably to meals from the island.
The restaurant's small size and high demand can lead to long wait times, but many feel that the delicious food is worth the wait. Parking is available on the side of the restaurant or on the street outside. Freshly made Portuguese bread pops (bolos) are inexpensive and praised for their quality. Customers mention that the food, especially the Chinese-Puerto Rican dishes, brings back memories of Puerto Rico. Some reviews indicate that fried foods could be less greasy and that better draining of oils would enhance the experience. Overall, visitors are happy with their meals and the friendly service. They appreciate the generous servings at budget-friendly prices and often plan to return multiple times a year, finding the experience enjoyable despite small inconveniences.
