Our server was delightful and very tentative and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was good. I got chowder and a chicken pasta dish. The chowder was OK. The pasta and chicken was amazing. Very large portion. My husband got steak tips rice and fries and he said it was very delicious. However, we were disappointed at the fact that we picked this restaurant because usually the atmosphere is very low-key and chill and last night there was a wedding, which is great congratulations however for a good 30 minutes of our dinner the whole wedding was at the bar in the main restaurant and not in the event room. It became very noisy very overcrowded to the point where I couldn't even talk to my husband at the table. I wish I was given that knowledge when I went to go book my reservation to know that there was a major event happening that night.
We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was burnt. My husband ordered the steak and it was paper thin and over done I had the stuffed sole that was still raw our waitress only stopped by a couple of times and my husband sat with an empty glass and by the time she came back we had enough of our meals. Sadly we won't be going back.
Nice time and place. We had a party of 8 and the service and food were great. Waiter was from UMassD and recognized my son and several of his friends who attended classes with him, which lead to some good conversations. We will definitely go back. Hostess was witty and we were promptly seated just prior to our reservation time.
There was a wedding going on in the next room so it was sooooooo loud we couldnt even talk to each other.
3 out of 4 of us were going to order scallop dishes, 1 fried scallops and 2 scallop risotto, and were informed they ran out of scallop's. Substitute meal had baked stuff shrimp that were way overcooked, french fries were cold and the clam chowder was flavorful however had very very little clam pieces in it. My wife ordered a refill on her wine that never showed up. Overall I was very disappointed with the food and the service - New Bedford has a huge fleet of scallop fishing boats that dock 1/2 mile away from restaurant...how do you run out of scallops
We can't make it before 1 pm for the Sunday Brunch. When we get there, the Beef looks like it's all we have left. Usually, a fresh piece of beef should be put out instead of offering people the scraps. This is the second time this has happened. The last time it was even worse; it was just leftover pieces, so there was no need to have anyone slice it for you — it was 'help yourself. I did take it because I was starving after church. Be that as it may, we'll still comeback because everything else was fantastic!
My aunt and I decided to go for brunch at Merrill's on the Waterfront 9/21/25 and it was spectacular. Food was excellent with quite an extensive menu offered (prime rib, pork, ham, scrambled eggs, home fries, tortellini, salad, sausage, shrimp mozambique, french toast, fruit, donuts, bagels, etc. Atmosphere was beautiful. It was peaceful allowing us to quietly catch up on things. Best brunch ever. Happy that I got to share the experience with my wonderful aunt. Look forward to enjoying another brunch at Merrill's on the Waterfront soon.
Our waitress Jennifer was excellent. She was informative, attentive and provided good service. The food was delicious, we especially loved the home baked cornbread and lobster crab cakes!
Was there for a private small nuptials dinner. Food was good , service ok, atmosphere ok. Did not venture into other parts of the venue but where we were was nice.

This was only the second time that my wife and I visited Merrell's. Both times we had the ocean platter. The oysters, clams and shrimp were excellent. We ate at the bar, so our server was the bartender and she provided top to bottom great service. In addition, she made an excellent espresso martini made with bullet bourbon instead of vodka. Our entrées consisted of chicken and beef, well presented and well cooked. Dessert was lemon berry cake that complemented the meal and matched with our cappuccinos, completed a great meal. We definitely will be back.

After having Merrill’s on my list of restaurants that I wanted to try for some time, I finally made it for their Sunday brunch buffet as a member of a large party.
This was no run-of-the-mill cheap quality brunch buffet either. From the breakfast items, to the lunch spread, everything we tried was delicious. I particularly liked their roast beef, brisket and desserts. They were simply delicious!
For the quality of food you receive, the price makes it one of the best bargains in the area. Service is very friendly and accommodating too. I would definitely return and recommend them to others.

We went to Merrill's for the first time yesterday. We went for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. The buffet food was mostly delicious. We were disappointed with the clam chowder though. It apparently was made with milk instead of cream so it was not as flavorful as the others we have at other restaurants. We feel the Shrimp Scampi should not be resting on top of the layer of rice but close to the metal bottom to keep it warm. We really enjoyed the tortilla, brisket, roast beef, smoked salmon, salads and cream puffs. Excellent value for the price. Very clean and staff is friendly, accommodating and helpful. We will come back.
This was the first time we went and I have to say I was impressed. The food was outstanding as the service was excellent. Our server was polite and friendly, including the staff that helped her. The prices were reasonable and the food was very good. We all had different meals and we all agreed it was very tasty. We will definitely be back.
