For anyone who craves decent Mexican and El Salvadoran food, this is about the only option in Pittsfield, and it's really good. The owner-chef really cares about his customers and the food he makes, and it really shows. I don't think there is a dish on the menu that we've ordered and didn't like. They are also great with to-go orders, which are always still piping hot when we get home. And the in-restaurant market is fun for getting some authentic ingredients for cooking our own Latin food at home.

For those who aren't familiar with El Salvadoran food, I recommend being adventurous. Don't know what a papusa is? Order some -- they are delicious. Never tried fried plantains? Don't miss out on Placita Latina's, served fresh and hot with a side of crema. And the standard Mexican fare is above-average as well -- we love their street tacos, empanadas, and enchiladas.

We did encounter a couple of hiccups as Placita Latina first got off the ground. One was that we sometimes had to wait a long while for our meals, even when things weren't busy. Another was that the meats were occasionally very salty -- much more so than when we visited before or after. But those minor hiccups have not stopped us from returning there frequently -- or from recommending it to friends. (And, FYI, everyone we've recommended Placita Latina to tell us they are very happy that we did!)

Kuddos and thanks to everyone at the restaurant who has made our visits there "muy especial." ;-)

I have not dined in yet, but I have had exquisite food delivered. Everything I have tried so far has been delicious. I can compare to other similar restaurants and Placita Latina Restaurant & Market is, hands down, the best. From the Chimichangas to the Taco de Birrias and authentic style tacos, I am hooked. I have tried other styles of some of the same dishes elsewhere (on days they are closed) and they cannot measure up. I highly recommend trying and make sure to thank them for their delicious food! You won’t regret it.

The service is good, food probably the worst Mexican food I have ever tasted. Bland flavor needs a lot of improvement. Small tacos, barley any meat and one tortilla.

Ordered here a couples times, the food is great. They have an amazing little shop with goodies you can’t really find in the local area. The energy is very upbeat and positive. I will buy from them again.

In response to owner comment: the plantains, oddly served as they were, were delicious and should be the least of your concerns. You should be more concerned about the photo below of that poorly prepared very dry birria taco. You can see where it wasn’t even dipped in the very sour off tasting consumme, the very dry very TINY portion of meat on it, and it lacks in the melted cheese most other places use. I suggest you travel to GREENBUSH SALSA LATINA and try a real birria taco. So good I willingly drive there from Pittsfield just for this dish. I’ve had your version twice now and both times it is the same which tells me your version is just not up to the highest standard.

See pics!DRY NO CHEESE MEAT IS SO TOUGH NO CHEESE VERY SOUR CONSUMME save your money and go literally anywhere else. Barley any meat and the meat you get is so dried out and touch and just all around terrible. I ordered a side of plantains and they sliced HALF OF one PLANTAIN IN 4 SLICES poor tiny servings plain black beans instead of refried
SECOND AND LAST TIMEWE WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AND WASTE MONEY HERE

Had the bean/cheese pupusas, and they were delicious! I would suggest ordering an appetizer while you wait because they are made fresh to order and worth it!

Haven't heard of this place despite living in Pittsfield, it's located right next door to the more established, Hot Harrys.

The place was empty when I went in around 2pm, a kind lady was quick to take my order, decided on the Tacos De Billia. The waitress was very nice, the food took roughly 15 minutes which gave me time to pursue their small Specialty market area which was clean and organized.

When the food was finished, I took it to go but anyone looking to dine in, there's plenty of booths to do so.

The billia tacos came with 3 tacos, fresh corn tortilla cooked in the consumeé with shredded, tender beef and a melted Mexican cheese topped with onion (asked for no cilantro but it normally comes with) a wedge of lime, rice, beans and a container of consumme.

This was literally the best tasting thing I've eaten in a long while. The flavor was super savory and the beef tender, dipped in the au jus it all came together

Awesome food, cannot wait to visit again. It was sad to see the place so empty cause the food, service and atmosphere are top notch. Give this place a try, you won't regret it.

Best tacos in Pittsfield! You can't beat the homemade tortillas. The tacos dorados were really good, too. We came for lunch on a Sunday and it was quiet. Will definitely be back for breakfast sometime.

Good amount of seating, mostly booths. Small latin grocery area.

The food is exactly like my puerto rican family cooks at home! The black beans and rice are full of flavor! The watermelon water and pineapple water are homemade and to die for. I cannot recommend this place enough! We had Tacos Dorados, beef enchiladas and steak tacos, and everything was perfectly cooked and delicious!

I have been ordering the tacos every time because they are delicious and satisfying. The music is warm and the people are friendly. The space is enormous, so until we all fill it up, it will feel a bit like Pittsfield. They are open until 8 pm, but took my order even though I was a little late. Thank you Placita Latina.

We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant while in CT visiting family. The salsa they brought to the table was the first clue the food would be good. Table of 6 and our more conservative diners were a bit concerned that salsa was orange (not red) but they were quickly convinced. Our server was very attentive and everyone said their burritos were good. My dad said his taco salad was the best he’d had (and he’s had a lot!)

I ordered 2 pupusas (chicken, cheese and garlic) and the carnitas taco. Well, I ordered one taco and then needed two more! The curtido had less of a kick than I’m used to, so probably a regional difference, and definitely a great place to start trying new things.

If we were local, I would have checked the little store and definitely ordered some food to go. (I’m dreaming of that salsa!!)
