Great historical tavern, it was nice to be a part of this history. We didn’t eat, but every person that walked out the door talked about how delicious their food was. The Barmaid was very friendly and attentive. The cocktail menu was extensive and again the Barmaid said that if it wasn’t on the menu, she could probably make it if we asked. Very cute cottage like facility. We’d go back and recommend this tavern 100%.. cheers! ……Follow me and my travels on instagram if you like at #mylifemyterms55

I went there for Thanksgiving dinner. It was very busy.
They seated us at a table blocking the waitress station. They called it the “table of misfits”. The waitstaff was so close to the table when they enter and exited the station. The table wobbled so much that when someone walked by it would wobble. One chair was a normal chair and the other was a miniature bistro chair and they slapped on a huge cushion. I couldn’t sit there so my husband told them to move us or we would leave.
Someone from the back kitchen came out, put down my soup and rushed away. I had no spoon. I had to wait to get the attention of a waitress for her to bring me a spoon. The butternut squash bisque had a 1/4 of an inch of oil like substance on top. It was weird. I had to stir it to mix the oil substance. The stuffing was mushy wet bread. The texture was disgusting I couldn’t eat it. They only gave me a tablespoon of potatoes. I thought the potatoes were under my turkey but nope, just more stuffing. The waitress never came back until the very end. She asked why I didn’t eat much and I told her I didn’t like it and I didn’t get potatoes. She apologized and asked if I wanted potatoes to go. I declined.
It wasn’t worth $55.00 a plate. I will say that the turkey and gravy was delicious. I will not be returning and I don’t recommend going

We had an amazing dinner from delicious appetizers- smoked wings to Clam chowder to our entrées- swordfish was exquisite as well as the New York strip it was great to sit in the gazebo and have our own private room. Our waitress Megan was superb. Amazing time at Rye Tavern!!

Kid-friendliness: Everyone was extremely friendly from the hostess to our waitress Megan.

Found this gem looking for a place to eat with a dog on a whim and boy, wish we had known about it before!
The staff at every level were fantastic, the host was super helpful and seated us immediately in an incredible outdoor “gazebo” which was a private dining area on the patio with siding and heaters. It was decorated beautifully overlooking the garden and felt cozy.
Our server Denise was incredible, she was happy to explain more about the restaurant, menu and was really enjoyable. She offered a bowl for our dogs water and mentioned they can make him a burger (much to his thrill). She was great at checking in as needed without making us feel rushed. The food runner was super friendly and sweet too. Service was extremely prompt but also did not feel rushed.
The cocktails were really good, recommend the sparrow house old fashioned and espresso martini. The menu is short but everything seems planned thoughtfully. We had the swordfish and salmon, both with sides that we were not used to with such dishes but well worth it.
Everything was so good we got desert, a sundae that was peanut buttery and chocolatey. We did not go inside but really look forward to our next visit.

Such a cool atmosphere inside and out. Warm fall feel on the inside and great patio with outside bar for the warmer days. Hard to go wrong with any of the dishes but the brussel sprout appetizer was one of our favorites. They also have a robust cocktail menu for any taste and the service was very welcoming and on point.

Once you go to Rye Tavern, you'll understand why its a local favorite. Its charm goes beyond its quaint, woodsy vibe. The vibe is cozy, yet vibrant with conversation. And the food is delicious! I wish I could have tried more off the menu. I had the smash burger, which was the best burger I've ever had! And the bartender was delightful.
Next time I'm in the area, i will definitely be back!

Definitely one of the best restaurants in the Plymouth area! The restaurant itself is just beautiful, and the outdoor seating is very scenic. Views of the rye garden and rye field. Food here tastes very fresh. I would recommend reservations, as they can get busy. Anytime they have sprouts on the menu, I’d highly recommend getting them. The smash burger is also a great pick. Service here is really attentive and friendly.

With all the great reviews we ended up here for our anniversary and were disappointed in the prime rib. Service was great along with atmosphere but for that money I was unhappy!

I booked/visited the Rye Tavern for my wedding rehearsal dinner. I have some mixed feelings about my experience, so I'll explicitly separate the event booking process from the dining process. (3 stars for service to account for the event staff)

I found the Rye Tavern via Google. My partner and I live in Boston and our wedding was in Carver. We liked the location near our venue/lodging, and felt the upscale rustic vibe was exactly what we were going for. We were expecting 10-12 people, so I called to make a reservation about a month out. I was directed to their event coordinator, so I sent out an email to get things going. Response time was quick, and over several emails and a week or two, details were ironed out and confirmed. I was finally directed back to the restaurant to book with instruction to reference my conversation with the event coordinator. When I tried to call and confirm, it took me 2 days to get a hold of someone. I left a message and emailed the event coordinator without response. When I did get a hold of someone, it was clear the event coordinator had not communicated my reservation to the restaurant staff, who had no idea about my intent to book. I was also informed the time we wanted was not available as another large party had a reservation already (by this time we were too close to the day to find a new venue). I was definitely frustrated, but a very helpful hostess worked with me to make a reservation for an earlier time they could accommodate. The downside was we had several guests flying in who couldn't make the earlier booking, which was disappointing. I did hear back from the event coordinator after I'd already made the reservation, and her response seemed to be unaware that there was a larger party already booked. I understand everyone was very busy, but I am fairly frustrated at the apparent lack of communication between the event coordinator and venue.

Once we did get to the Tavern (which was in a breath-takingly beautiful location!), everything was great. Service was polite and attentive, the food and drinks were amazing, and the vibe was indeed exactly what we wanted. The staff were very communicative, letting us know the other large party was due soon so we could have last drinks and square up without feeling rushed. If I am back in the area I will go back, absolutely.

Not so sure I'd ever book an event here again though.

Rather than write a new review here is the letter I sent to management a month ago. I received NO response.

I, along with six of my friends, had dinner at Rye Tavern on August 15, 2024.
Some of have dined at your establishment many times. I have been there only once since I do not live in Massachusetts any longer.
The service was fine, and the ambience was lovely.
I had the fish and chips and have to say that the fish was the worst fried fish I have ever had. It was mushy rather than firm. Later, I asked two of my friends who ordered the same how their fish was. I received the same comment.
I should have brought this to the attention of the server but failed to do so.
I thought that I would write to you about this rather than post a negative review.
