China Pearl Restaurant 龍鳳大酒楼, now unfortunately closed, was known for high-quality dim sum, great affordable prices, and tons of variety. Located in a strip mall next to a large Asian market, it was a popular choice for those avoiding Boston Chinatown. The best dim sum included large shu mai, large shrimp har gow, stuffed eggplant, Chinese broccoli, turnip cake, and chow fun. Other favorites were clams in black sauce, noodles seared in hot oil, fried taro, xiao long bao, steamed pork bun, salt and pepper prawns, salt and pepper sardines, and sponge cake. The egg tarts were considered the best, and chicken feet and Chow foon noodle were great with good portions. However, the lotus leaf sticky rice was bland with very little meat filling. On weekdays, items like egg tarts, baked roast pork buns, stuffed bean curd skin, and fried sticky dumplings were not on the menu, and there were no carts. The restaurant had a huge parking lot that still got full, and payment required waiting in line at the counter. It was recommended to join a group and arrive before three for dim sum.
