One of the worst UberEats experiences I've EVER had. My gosh, I have secondhand embarrassment for this place, and whoever answered the phone at 10:10 this morning.

So, on Google, Montilio's shows its hours of operations from 7am-8pm today. I have never ordered from this place before, so I had no reason to question that.

So, I place a large order on UberEats around 8:30 this morning. It says "Order being prepared." However, the time estimate for delivery kept getting pushed back farther and farther. Listen, I'm pretty darn patient. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and thought they were super understaffed, or overwhelmed with orders. Or maybe the app glitched, or something weird like that. Buuuut I was also starving. So finally, after AN HOUR AND A HALF goes by, I'm pissed, and I call the place up to find out what the heck is going on with my order.

A lady answers the phone. I explain the situation, and ask how much longer my order will be. She says, "Let me go check our tablet." She comes back, and says, "That's odd. I see you ordered cranberry chicken salad, but we don't have any." I said, "Well, how was I supposed to know that? It was available on UberEats, so I ordered it..."

I then proceeded to say, "But that's fine, just cancel the chicken salad. How is the rest of the order coming along though? Is it almost done? It's been so long and I'm VERY hungry."

She says, "Well, our kitchen doesn't open until 10." I said, "I don't understand. Your hours of operation says 7. You had UberEats online, accepting orders." She said, "We don't ACCEPT the orders, the tablet does it automatically." I said, "That doesn't make any sense. I work at a restaurant myself. UberEats doesn't just decide FOR YOU, if/when you're open, and what items you have in stock and available."

She then simply repeated herself, saying, "Well, the kitchen staff doesn't get here until 10." I said, "Well don't you think somebody should have called me, to let me know a mistake was made with my order, and let me know what's going on?" Again, she said, "Well, since the kitchen staff doesn't get here until 10, and the UberEats tablet automatically sends the ticket to the kitchen, nobody was even aware of your order."

I then asked her, "Well, it's 10:10 now. Have you AT LEAST started my order?" She replied, "Well, we don't have the cranberry chicken salad. But would you still like me to tell them to start your order now?"

I replied, "That's so terrible. I'm hungry, and I've already been waiting for an hour and a half. It's too late to just get started on it now."

She just curtly and apathetically responded, saying, "So you'd like me to go ahead and cancel your order then?"

Why yes, genius. Yes I would šŸ˜–. So I said, "Yes, cancel my order. I've never ordered from you guys before. And I never will again. This was really messed up. You guys need to do better, or you're going to continue pissing people off. This was all so ridiculous. You need to fix your settings with the UberEats app, get your hours sorted out, and call people when you mess up."

This is when she concluded the conversation with, "Okay, I'll cancel your order. Sorry. Have a nice day."

For the record, that "Sorry" was so forced, and disingenuine. She sounded like all she wanted was to be done with me, and our phone call, which had clearly just inconvenienced and annoyed her.

I'm so beyond disappointed with this place. Especially considering all the wonderful reviews it has. Lucky me I guess. šŸ™„

I’m disappointed on the pizza quality. Clearly it was baked a few hours before I called in and reheated. The sauce was mushy. Please keep up the good work you had for years.

I ordered 3 cakes for my son's first birthday. The first one for his smash photos (about a week before his bday party) was completely wrong. It was supposed to be all white and they gave me a naked cake. The 2 other custom ordered cakes (total of $405) were for my son's first birthday with 50 people. I went to pick up the cakes about 4 hours before the party starts and they said they weren't there. Come to find out they wrote down the wrong date. This was after double checking everything after the first cake was wrong. Naturally I broke down sobbing when I found out I had no cake for my son's first birthday I spent months planning. The girl working had no solution but to give me a refund and to choose a cake from the case since there's no decorators in. The entire ordering process with them was such a cluster. I was helped my multiple people and no one got anything right. I ended up leaving the store and going to fratellis. While I was doing that my husband who was at home with our baby called Montilios to try and get a better solution. After about an hour of back and forth phone calls they said they would call in a decorator to Brockton and we could get a cake made but it wouldn't be ready until the time our party started and they wouldn't compensate the cake for all the issues. We declined since at this point we already had fratellis fixing the situation. My entire family has been ordering montilios for years and all of us agree it has gone such downhill. I am so thankful that Fratellis down the street was able to save the day and decorate a cake and a smash cake with only 2 hours notice and at 1/3 of a cost. My entire family loved the cakes there and can't wait to continue getting everything from there in the future!

Be very careful when buying from this place. It's a 50/50 chance you'll get something decent. We have been here a few times when i work in the area, and their croissants are nice. But we have gotten a few less than stellar items before today. We went in on 8/24/24 and grabbed one of their mini banana cream pies, a tiramisu slice and a brownie. Brownie was delicious. You can't really mess it up. But the banana cream pie was a different story. We dug into it and at first the whipped cream and the filling were delicious, but we got further into it and taste something sour. There were real bananas chopped into it, but they were sour as if they had gone bad, and it soured the rest of the surrounding pudding. We checked to see what the date on the pie was but we discovered no date or indication of when it was made. Who knows how long it's been sitting there. A bakery should be more responsible on checking how long their pastries have been waiting on the shelf, especially if they have fresh fruit in it. Last time I'm coming here, too many disappointments. And dates should be written on prepackaged items, just to better keep track of things.

I just received my 1st ever Montiliis pizza (after 20+ years & mom of 4). I found out about you through Pics on QIE, from the Taste of Quincy food festival. Unfortunately, the UBER driver that delivered the pizza, mishandled the pizza, thus, I got a half separated & mashed to one side of the box cheese pizza. FEAR NOT!!!!!
YOUR PIZZA WAS DELICIOUS (even mushed it was yummy)! You have Absolutely become our familys' favorite pizza place in Quincy. Thank You.
Sincerely, Chris Hamel, Quincy, MA

Ew - just saw a review on Facebook that someone received a fermented and moldy cake??

I've come here a few times and the first time, they were cashing out the register 30min early and said were closed, and the second time, the cake was dried out.

Kondeitermeister (spelling) is way better.

Montillio’s is hands-down, my favorite bakery in Quincy! I come from the South Shore and we don’t have anything else even comparable. (Yes I know they have other locations but this is my favorite) Every time I go, I usually get a blueberry bundt cake, slice of pepperoni pizza, and a cupcake……. everything is ALWAYS fresh. On occasion, I’ll get a cookie for the pooch and she is a big fan too. ?

I’m updating this review in response to Montillios response. SEE BOTTOM. Hit or miss. I have been going there specifically for the ā€œJordan Marsh Blueberry Muffinsā€ for about a year now. In the beginning they were awesome, now not so much. The original recipe
For blueberry muffins calls for mashed and whole blueberries, which they skip the mashed part. Over the past few months the muffins have gotten worse. They look like they are loaded with blueberries on the outside but when you cut it there are barely any on the inside. Very disappointing. And sometimes they are overcooked. I’ve also noticed that the baker on the weekend does a better job. Not as overcooked and more blueberries on the weekend. Consistently is the #1 thing that makes a food establishment successful. If you’re going to market them as Jordan Marsh muffins and At $4.50 per muffin I expect just that, the recipe to be followed with quality and consistency.

RESPONSE: thank you for responding to
My review so quickly. My pics are absolutely the Jordan Marsh muffins. I ONLY buy the muffins from behind the counter. I ask for a Montillios box every time and purchase between 4-6, depending on the day. I know the muffins that you are referring to, I purchased them 1 time and did not like them.
