Barrio used to be great. Then last October I had too many issues with food and service. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it can be crazy busy in October for them. I tried them again today during the slow season and they've gotten even worse. Cold nasty tacos.

If you like greasy hollow tacos and mediocre queso this is the place for you! Congrats barrio on being the worst taco spot in the area! The one in haverhill is incredible and you guys should be ashamed of the food you pump out in salem! Cheers!

We took our family here for a casual dinner. From the apps to the tacos, food was horrible. It’s a great idea but food was inedible. Tacos very small & greasy. How can Mexican restaurant not even have decent salsa & apps.Sounds cheap but added up to be quite expensive with 2 margs & a Corona. At least the Corona was good . Don’t waste your time & money!
Delicious!
I’ve tried barrio here and there and every time I go I always wish it could be better. The servers most of the time always have an attitude and the food is always mediocre. They have a check option for corn tortillas and they’ve ignored it not just once but multiple times. What really brought me to write this was last nights interaction with “jojo” I think their name was. There was a misunderstanding and she could’ve handled it better, besides that she didn’t check on us much, we had to track her down for water, and she called my girlfriend crazy when we confronted her about the order that was wrong because of a food allergy. The manager offered us a gift card but it’s just better to save your money and go somewhere else. Shout my guy Nelson though he’s always a sweat heart when I see him.

I really enjoyed the tacos. I especially liked the soft flour together with the hard corn.
House margarita was too sweet.

Went to get some tacos for take out. Bartender was on the phone and not very helpful, I was offered chips and salsa but never give any. Food is great, but next time I’m just gonna call ahead or something to avoid the so so service.

Service was great, waitstaff was engaging. Skip the house margarita: too sweet.
It was a very quiet night but the place kids great. Imagine that Thursday and Friday are fun.
Is a cool idea to make your own taco but I still find the creativity of experts in picking ingredients usually results in a better tasting taco. I guess I’m no expert!

Came on Halloween, so probably not the most representative day.

quick service no issues.

I cannot recommend this restaurant until the management addresses the vermin on site. On Tuesday, October 9th, between 6 and 7 pm, my partner and I were seated in a booth, and a freaking MOUSE fell on me from the ceiling. It landed on my hip, bounced off, and then ran off. Naturally I freaked out and ran out of the restaurant. The server came over to my partner and she still had to pay! But the main point, the restaurant has vermin on the premises, and falling from the ceiling unto customers.
Update: we emailed them as requested but they never replied.

I frequent Bario and usually hava a great experience, this was not that. The staff is always great, wait time for drinks was a little crazy this time.
I ordered the Impossible Chorizo Tacos and they were awful! Flavorless, cold and missing one of the listed toppings(avocado ranch). As well as they were hardshell tacos WRAPPED in soft flour tortillas with sour cream in between, which wouldn't be incredibly offensive... but it was raw, in fact I've gotten soft shell tacos at bario on three occasions and they've never been cooked.
I also got the watermelon marg and it was just as awful, it tasted almost nothing of watermelon, was too sweet and floral and it had no alcohol in it.
Overall, I would recommend this place for a rice bowl on a slow night, otherwise, skip it.

They sit in the worst spot, direct sun and didn't try to do something to improve it
Asked for reduced the spice in our food, but they did the opposite.

The service was exceptionally poor. The bartender displayed a lack of courtesy, neglecting to greet us, explain the menu, or provide menus, forcing us to ask. When requesting beer samples, she presented them without clarification. When asked to identify them, she replied, “I don’t know what I poured,” before walking away. The food was soggy. We felt unwelcome and will not be returning.

We stopped in for tacos around 10pm, and can safely say, they were possibly the worst tacos we have paid for. Their drinks are good, if you’re looking to have a cocktail or beer, perfect spot. But sadly, you’re better off heading to Taco Bell for a taco.

Very cool Decor, wall murals creative. Very much not an Authentic Mexican restaurant, despite the mariachi members and sugar skulls all over the walls. Chips and salsa were delicious. Tacos were very much not tasty, maybe build your own would be better. Bathrooms very clean and individual.
