As an almost daily customer for over a year, AJs is one of the main reasons I'm glad I moved to Salem. The food, drinks, and bread quality are top-notch, and I've never had anything subpar--the consistency in their quality shows through their workers as much as their coffee. As an artist, I always look for cafes with ambiance, and this space, although small, offers many different spots to sit and work. I'm already looking forward to my next visit (likely tomorrow!)
After 2 days of a continental breakfast buffet at our hotel, my husband and I craved something different. Luckily, A&J was a short walk from our hotel (Hampton Inn) and it wasn't too crowded when we arrived. It smelled amazing when we walked in and the display of delicious treats were overwhelming! Cute place, not as stylish as some city cafes, but that highlights that the focus is the food not the look. Every single food thing here is phenomenal. They're known for impeccable breads, though coincidentally the pastries are flawless, and the croissants aren't even too "bready".
