My wife loves macarons, so after spotting this place we walked across Salem to try it and sit down for a bit. When we arrived, neither employee — including what seemed to be the owner — greeted us. We got our macarons and another dessert, but they were out of baguettes, even though it was only around noon. As we sat, we noticed signs saying “this table closed” or “for paying customers only,” which felt unwelcoming. Later that evening, every table had a sign. If you don’t want to be in the customer service business, don’t open a bakery.
This was by far my favorite place. During my visit to Salem on the weekend before Halloween. Every day that I went I would get the flan, the vanilla eclair is delicious as well. My wife got the pistachio cake. It was good also. This is a must stop but you have to go early because they sell out
Since the owner is unprofessional and passive aggressive (not surprising considering the service they allow) and to answer their illogical question, I initially wanted to dine in cause it doesn’t make any sense to walk and eat a pastry outside rather than sit in a place. Even the cashier at the front didn’t see an empty table, so I had to opt to get it to go. Don’t pass off your seating area as what a restaurant would offer. It’s open seating with paper plates.
This one staff member (short one with black hair) was incredibly rude. It’s crowded at the tables, so even if you order it boxed and see a table open when you get your order seconds later, they say “it’s too late” and don’t allow you to sit at an open table cause it was ordered as to-go. They put signs up with tiny words that aren’t prominent but justify it as giving us a heads up.
My family is spoiled with great french pastry and can tell the quality with the first bite. I researched and looked into other bakeries before making a visit. … And everyone loved the pastries we got this morning. The plain and raisin croissants were delicious! They were gone before I was able to take a picture. Highly recommend! 🥐
We’ll be back for more when we visit Salem again.
Best macarons I've ever had!! The Earl Grey and the Almond were our favorites, and the Violet was very lovely as well. Super fresh and delightful!
Loved the Sophie! It was delicious!
The croissant are perfectly crisp outside and elastic inside, and the pastries taste as good as they look. Definitely worth a visit.
I had quick service and amazing macaroons.
This patisserie is wonderful!!! The service is very nice and the macarons and pastries are top tier and very authentic! Be sure you visit this place when you're in town. It's absolutely worth it.
I live in the Midwest and vacation in Maine every few years, but I always make the drive down to Salem, MA because of Caramel. The best macarons money can buy! Never a short on a wide variety of rich flavors, and every bite is a little piece of heaven. I introduced my parents to them and they were in love. I had some to freeze when I went home, but they didn’t even make it to the freezer because they were eaten so soon. If I could give more than five stars, I most certainly would. 💖

the pastries were tasty, but the vibes were so off. not a single employee greeted us, no music to fill the awkward silence. and they made me feel goofy for not knowing where to check out, even though neither of them said a word to me lol
Love this place. Like a little bit of Europe in Mass.

Yes, please!! Wonderful person helping us with our difficult decisions at the counter and the items we ordered were delicious.
As soon as I seen this spot I HAD to make a stop! I’m a huge fan of macaroons and this spot in Salem did not disappoint! They all were very good, tasted fresh and authentic (not those pre made macaroons you pull out of the freezer to sell). The service was great, I found everyone very welcoming and nice even tho the environment was a bit hectic due to Halloween weekend in Salem. If you have a sweet tooth for French pastries and in Salem this is a must for you!

One of the most beautiful and delicious bakeries I have been to. Their desserts are true art with flavors to match. Their chocolate mousse cake was the best I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to come back here and try everything else.
