We dined at The Lobster Shanty a couple of days before Christmas. What a fun and delicious meal! We had Nova Scotia poutine and the fried scallops. The Nova Scotia poutine was fries, cheddar cheese curds, and New England clam chowder. What a fun twist on regular poutine! The fried scallops were hot and crisp, just the way I like them. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes a chill atmosphere and enjoys seafood.

I had the traditional lobster roll and it tasted bland but okay. Service was super. Atmosphere charming with a locals dive vibe. The prices got a double take. The roll as THE signature entree is $30 plus. I’m expecting this roll to be of substantial portion size or level of quality. It’s what can fit onto a hotdog bun with your choice of tots or Fries. Was it an actual hotdog bun? Yes, it was. Here’s my two cents, the lobster roll is okay but not $30+ good. This is a tourist trap or what a restaurant has to do to stay afloat in the conditions in which they operate. Some of their other menu items are more reasonably priced but still inflated and mostly deep fried. I left hungry. For seafood, look else where.

We were greeted at the door by Andy and when we entered the place was empty. We bellied up to the bar ready for a libation and a lobster roll. We were not disappointed. Michael shook up a delicious Jack Daniels Sour and we were off and running! A few moments later more people joined us and the place began to fill up. Then we were joined at the bar by some locals from Marblehead. It was like a gathering of old friends. Then the lobster rolls and fries arrived. Don’t miss out on the best lobster rolls in Salem. The fries and blue cheese dressing were the best ever. But the welcoming of the staff was beyond compare.

I had an amazing lobster roll. Other items ordered were the burger, lobster rangoons, and a corn dog. Service was fast and the staff were friendly. I was not a fan of the brussel sprouts. I ordered the lobster roll Connecticut style (warm). The space is small, but it was perfect for a quick bite while sightseeing.

Went here back in June of 2023 with my boyfriend and he has been trying to find a lobster roll like theirs ever since.I personally don't like seafood but the lobster shanty had something for us both. He said the lobster roll seemed pricey at first but said it was totally worth it and wished he got the extra for an additional $10 . If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely stop by. It was great in all categories and our waiter was super friendly!!(The mustard design was me)
