The Tavern is one of my favorite places to pop in, even when I’m not staying at Hawthorne Hotel. They have fantastic offering and deli table libations accompanied by top notch service and a cozy atmosphere. It’s a great place to cool off in the summer heat, or warm up in the cold of winter.

My salmon burger was excellent. My partner was less impressed with their salmon, finding the everything seasoning overwhelming. It was a lovely setting, though. Stick with the Tavern, as Nathaniel's can be too noisy with the musicians.

I have lived in Salem for several years. My husband and I ate at the Hawthorne many times, often with friends or family. I have always found it to be warm and welcoming, with excellent food.

We had reservations for Nathaniel's at 1pm, didn't get seated until almost 1:20 and were seated in the Tavern instead because they booked a baby shower in Nathaniel's. It was quite loud in there. Service was slighlty annoying, they kept checking on our table too often. When our first plate came out they immediately asked if it was good, didn't even get one bite of it. Our food took a half hour to get to our table. It all tasted very good, it was worth the wait. All in all, their scheduling and peopling skills could use work but the kitchen was on point :D

Two tech bros pitched the worst app idea to each other and a lady from Virginia annoyed the bartenders and then made a real estate deal on the phone.

We had dinner here during our stay at the hotel, my kiddo and I. We weren't overly hungry, so we opted to buy a burger and share the meal. The wait staff was very accommodating and requested that our meal be split and served on two separate plates, making it easier for us to share. Thank you for that!!!
Now, the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the burger medium well, and it was cooked perfectly. It had just a touch of pink and was still juicy. I'm glad we shared our meal because the portion was, in fact, large enough to split for he two of us. The fries were amazing! They were so nice and crispy. They were exactly how I want fries to always be.
The ambiance of the restaurant is incredibly cozy, lovely, and inviting. It feels like the kind of room you'd want to stay in, especially with the large fireplace and comfy seating.
Bottom line, I really enjoyed our dining experience and wouldn't change a thing. I have no notes.
