Had a great meal in a cozy New England atmosphere. The coconut curry was fantastic. My wife had the Ceasars salad which was also a hit. Nice beer selection. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, an excellent meal.

Was told there was a 30min to 1 hr wait. That wait turned into almost 3 hours. Do not recommend.
An excellent place with outstanding service—truly top-notch! Highly recommend it. The Chicken Caesar Nachos and brownie are absolute must-tries!

My husband and I went to The Tavern Halloween night and sat at the bar. Allison served us with a smile during one of the busiest nights of the year. Her drinks were so good! We ordered a hamburger and mac and cheese. The food was delicious and again served with a smile. What a great experience!

Worst service in Salem. We got q reservation at 2:45 pm and we got our food at 3:47pm . The waiter didn’t cake, he did not refill our glass of water and everything took so long just to bring two burgers with fries. A waste of time and money. It’s very expensive compared to the type of service you get. We asked for mustard and hot sauce and of course we never got it. If you are visiting Salem, you will have a better experience eating in a food truck or somewhere else than in this place. I just want to clarify that we came in October but it was not busy at all. Also, the sangria was disgusting and the food was just okay. My husband asked for truffle fries and he got regular fries. Poor customer service experience.

Got deathly sick off of the fried pickles. Puked on my way home after a weekend in a Salem twice. Would not recommend these. Hubby said his burger was good, but I can't even think about eating here again.

The best meal in Salem we had!
We came back here after we stumbled upon the neat old and historic restaurant inside The Hawthorne hotel. We figured it looked nice let's try it out.
Everything we had was perfection! I've been touring all the pretzels every restaurant I go to this year and they had some of the best. The Chicken marsala was so flavorful and tender. The asparagus could not have been better prepared.
They have an impressive cooking team because it was all wonderful! Definitely a place we'll revisit!

I visited The Tavern once with my 4 year old to test out before going back with friends for a girls day. When my daughter and I went, it was a Tuesday early September and it was pretty empty. I had the Caesar salad with sun dried tomatoes and my daughter had chicken. I thought it was average at best. When I went back with friend it was a Friday late September and they were very busy. We had a table in the center of the small, enclosed restaurant so it was rather loud but once some groups left it was just fine. The food was better too (perhaps because I didn’t order a salad). I had a flatbread from the appetizer menu that had butternut squash on it. So good but very rich with the cheese. My friend said the adult grilled cheese was excellent and another friend liked this open face type of sandwich that had mushrooms. Decent cocktails, too. Service is good. The space is very cozy and fits the theme of the city well.
Kid-friendliness: It’s not NOT kid friendly, they had a menu and crayons for my daughter but it’s very small inside. No room for strollers or even carriers really, at least not enough for my tastes. No where to walk around. Loud/loud kids would be very difficult in this tiny space. Better for older kids who can sit in their chairs for a while.

Waiting for over an hour. Kids are hungry. Granted that it WAS busy but over an hour for food is unacceptable!
We had lunch here during a rainy Monday in Salem. The wood panelled room was a cosy retreat for us and the meal did not disappoint.
We had the meatloaf wrapped in bacon with mash potatoes and broccoli. Wow! The flavour and texture of the meatloaf was incredible and the mash potatoes were creamy and packed with flavour.
We had pints of Sam Adam’s Octoberfest with a caramel and cinnamon rim which were perfect for an autumn day.
Loved this place!
