Everything was delicious and made from scratch, specials were the stars, they're doing a lot with a small space,

Was surprised to see how well-reviewed this place is, because the food is straight up just not good. The pasta dishes were massively over-seasoned and salty, and the bolognese was made with ground beef that could only be described Boyardee-esaue. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but the service was also very slow, and it took us a while to get seated despite having a reservation. Will not be coming back.

This restaurant canceled our reservation without calling or emailing. We showed up with out of town guests and walked up to a locked door and dark restaurant. This was very inconsiderate. We hope that in the future the proprietors will treat their guests with more respect for their time.

Highly recommend coming here - mushroom pasta and the duck breast are a must have. Staff are friendly but be sure to bring your jacket if you're here in the winter!!

Portions on the cheese plate were comical. We were advised to order 3-5 plates for two people, but the pasta portions were plenty for one person. The carbonara was overwhelmed with black pepper and the bolognese had very little sauce. The service and ambience were nice and portrayed a fine dining experience, but the food itself was disappointing.

Overall, thought service was lacking for menu offering. Waitstaff was not attentive, but was efficient. Pasta itself was good, but sauces were overly salted. Should have just gone to LasBrasas next door - place was hopping. Weird cubed steak tartare - covered with a heavy sauce - mayo based maybe?

Food here was excellent but service was some of the worst I've ever had. Everyone we came into contact with (specifically server and hostess) seemed wildly inconvenienced by our presence. Our server was incredibly rude — no welcome, no help with the menu, no check ins, even a couple eye rolls. Would have been a favorite as food and ambiance were wonderful but won't be returning due to terrible service.

The food itself was delicious, highly recommend the mushroom gemelli. However, the service was quite awful. I was there for Valentine's dinner but felt incredibly disregarded the entire time. The time it took us to receive any service was so long whereas the waitress would be holding friendly conversations with every other table.

Had a delicious meal on Valentine's Day considering it was busy on a weekday. Very creative selections. Enjoyed the cheese plate as an appetizer. Wine selection is very good. It's tight space with seating with winter coats so that's why it's a four for me . Go there for a great meal!

hello there

I like this place overall. Low-key vibe, service was really good, menu was appealing. However, I ordered the Duck Confit pasta and it was salty beyond words-- I felt like I was eating a salt lick. Other diners in these reviews have also complained about the excessive salt. Truly the chef needs to take this complaint seriously! I also had the broccolini appetizer-- after an initial version they did wrong, they brought me the right one, and it was good. I really want to support local restaurants, so hope to be back but I hope they will solve this issue of oversalting. PS it would also be good if they had some full size pasta dishes; the pastas were in 'primi' category and I understand that's designed to be smaller than a regular main dish, but some people would love to have pasta as a main dish.

We went to Fat Hen pre-covid and they offered a wonderful four course meal. I decided to revisit for a special occasion. The doors were locked at 5:06 despite our reservation at 5 pm. Odd.We signed up for the chef’s experience, which over the phone was mentioned as a way for the chef to offer dishes they were experimenting with as extras. There was nothing offered during our experience that was extra and nothing made mention of the fact that it was the chef’s experience. No chef came to speak to us.The beet salad was a pile of beets and dressed, Mediterranean style greens. It lacked brightness due to lack of acid and the plating could be improved. There was no additional herbs or garnish. Just pistachios, beets, greens and goat cheese. The flavors were very muddied. We received a bucatini carbonara that I had been looking forward too. It was extremely salty. My husband remarked that it was like a can of concentrated campbell’s soup. The pasta was not cooked enough, even by al dente standards. When we mentioned it to the server she said that since we already ate so much of it she wasn’t gonna do anything abt it. But there wasn’t even an apology or discount. The steak was alright. But there was a large pat of anchovy butter on top that was rock solid- a pat of butter 3 inches wide and half inch tall which was very large - usually maitre’d butter is softened but this looked like it was straight from the freezer. It was very tough to spread and also made the steak taste worse. They also forgot to put the uni on top until I flagged that it was missing. There was also a small bristle I found… like something off of a brush.Overall one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. Not sure what happened to this restaurant. Would not recommend.

Service was very rude. Did not explain what I was getting even though I basically begged her to describe it. I was expecting pasta and got dumplings instead. And they were not good.

Great pasta and great ambience! Unfortunately I would not recommend the ribeye...it had uni on top which not only tasted very fishy itself (usually a sign of uni gone bad), but it made the rest of the steak taste fishy. It also had an unexpected bbq rub taste, and these flavors combined were a bit unpleasant. Still would go back though, for the pasta.

I have never written a negative review before but had to in this case. I will say that the appetizers were great, especially the spiced carrots. But the pasta dishes were far too salty and the server was awful. She was not friendly AT ALL and was not attentive either. We have never left less than 20% ever but stick with 15% this time. There were 4 of us and not one of us left happy.
