Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant! The food was delicious. We ordered a few items to share. Highlights were - tacos, pork belly, and roasted carrots. The drinks were great too. Specifically, the old fashioned. It was well made. The restaurant had a cozy vibe, and the service was good. We'd love to go back here again for dinner!

So disappointing. The last two times I have gone the food has been bland and unimpressive. This used to be my favorite restaurant. The food used to be incredible- the best meals I had ever eaten, and totally worth the high price. Now it’s meh and not worth it. Not sure what has happened to this place, but I hope they figure it out.

🌟
We were having a great time at first, the atmosphere was casual and fun, and our server Luiza was attentive early on. But once the food arrived, we felt forgotten. No refills were offered, and after we had an issue with the chicken, the service shifted noticeably. Luiza ignored our attempts to flag her down, and when someone finally took the dish away, no one asked what was wrong or apologized. The treatment felt dismissive, and for a restaurant that’s been open over a decade, it was surprisingly unprofessional.

🍽️ Food & (inconsistent)
The appetizers were excellent , the oysters were fresh, and the tacos were crispy and well-seasoned. The Papas Bravas (served with my King Prawns) were a highlight: perfectly crispy and flavorful. The ribeye was tasty and came with Mexican fried rice which my friend loved, though the steak itself was not as juicy as expected. The Brussels sprouts (served with my friend’s chicken dish) were also a hit, balanced and not overly sweet.

However, the chicken entrée was a complete miss — it smelled off, and the taste reminded me of raw chicken. After we complained, I reordered the King Prawns, which had been great the first time, but the second plate was oily and burnt. That inconsistency took away from an otherwise promising meal.

La Brasa has great potential and standout dishes, but inconsistent execution and poor handling of customer concerns left us disappointed. Not sure we’d return.

I was very disappointed with my experience. Although the location is beautiful and offers a great view, it was overshadowed by the unwelcoming attitude I encountered. As a Latina, I felt judged and unwelcome by the staff, who acted as if we did not belong or could not afford to dine there. While the food was acceptable, the pistachio pancake in particular was underwhelming. It is unfortunate that in such a beautiful setting, the experience was marred by discriminatory behavior. We must do better to ensure that all guests feel respected and valued, regardless of their background.

Amazing food and drinks! Had the El Diablo and it was one of the best spicy margaritas I’ve had to date!

We had been looking forward to a great meal and good company, and it was disappointing that the service and food quality did not meet expectations.

Great atmosphere and excellent food. We came by for the first time on the Somerville Foodie Crawl and are planning to come back again soon.

Although I prefer a more closed atmosphere, I love La Braza Somerville. My favorite dishes are the La Brasa Burger which is half price if you eat in on Monday. I also loved the oysters. The are smoky, salty and are great on top of a salad. I highly recommend them!

Lovely little taco!

Just sampled their pork carnitas taco with special no heat sauce that the chef makes for only 2 weeks of the year and it was sooo tasty, just the right blend of taste and texture

I never write a review, but La Brasa definitely deserves it. Can I start off by saying what a restaurant with an amazing vibe. The music, lights lit up, the wood flame fire, every detail so PERFECT!! The food was great. I loved the Elotes, definitely my personal favorite. The drinks were amazing everything was nicely balanced. Our server Luisa was the absolute nicest person I have ever met. She answered every question we had and was a great help. Always checked and made sure we were doing okay and if we needed anything. She had a great energy and had a smile on the whole time. Overall loved this place can’t wait to come back!

We returned to LaBrasa after many years away and hoped to relive the excellence we experienced before. To no avail.

With the exception of a friendly greeting from Thomas we were underwhelmed and under-served the whole time. After ordering drinks, we were served a substitution for the wine requested without explanation or apology. Then things continued to decline. Our waiter acted entitled and aloof while failing to engage in genuine conversation at any time. He did not make eye contact with his guests at any time throughout the service.

The bread we were served was neither fresh nor appetizing. It smelled like charcoal briquettes and petroleum fuel. The service was neither attentive nor helpful. Two of the four dishes we ordered we reminiscent of microwave heating with hot spots and bland flavor. As food was delivered it was not described but rather hastily placed on our table and forgotten.

We had to wait an inordinate amount of time for service and left feeling neglected and unsatisfied. Like all good things, it seems La Brasa has run its course and has been left to die.
