I honestly don't even know what to write because we just got sat. That was about it. We got sat and waited. There was a table that sat after us and got greeted right away. We waited some more and then decided to just leave. This place needs to work together and be more attentive.

Being from lynn and growing up in such a diverse city I never would've thought I would face discrimination and racism so close to home. Went there last Friday evening after looking at a car so I thought it would be nice for my girlfriend and I to enjoy a nice restaurant on the beach so we ended up at this spot. We were hungry and swept thru the reviews for this place (not so great) but because it was near dinner time and everywhere required reservations or was already booked we just decided to go here. Upon entering we are already getting the stares because of our appearance, doorman greeted us but looked us both up and down, the older gentleman that sat us didn't give up a drink menu maybe assuming our age. He sat us right in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by all empty tables meanwhile all the other guest had a window view of the ocean, mind you the place was pretty empty.. we sat for about 10-20 mins as two waiters kept walking by us while greeting new customers that came in after us. The staff was well aware that they were overlooking us as they kept making eye contact with me knowing I was becoming impatient. About 25 mins in we decided to leave before we can even stand the older gentleman from the front desk rushes over to try to get us to stay knowing the service we have not been serviced with. We left and went to Blue Ox which was by far was more delicious. Overall I was displeased by the behavior of this place both customers and staff. Do better

Great place for sea food and family time. Lobster was great and my son loved it. There bread is great with butter.

Tried it tonight for first time. Terrible terrible terrible service and little response from management. No discount offered on our uncooked food or lack of service. An embarrassment of a restaurant. The only good thing was the view.

Not to get all meta on you, but, face it, most Yelp reviews have limited utility regarding selecting a good restaurant, foodwise. Although everyone considers themselves to be a discerning food critic, they, well, are not. And fully 70% of negative reviews involve some sort of negative interaction with a staff member. This is going to be one of those reviews. Caveat Emptor. My family and I were looking for a special location for a milestone family event. We selected Anthony's. Seaside! Great North Shore reputation for my entire life! And "event" kinda old school restaurant. They advertise functions on their website! A great venue for 30 +/- attendees. What could go wrong? After booking what we thought was a function room months in advance, I decided to do a drive-by a couple of days prior to the event. The restaurant was open, so I asked to see the function room. It was apparently "the" part of the main dining room that is featured in the Yelp main photo. It could kinda/sorta be partitioned from the rest of the dining room. When I reminded the manager that we were going to have an acoustic string quartet, the manager/family member had a meltdown. He almost yelled, NO MUSIC! NO MUSIC! I walked out. As I was leaving, I noticed that the place looked dirty and tired, like the oldest airline terminal in your least favorite airport. We found another venue elsewhere with two days notice, but it was stressful. I'll leave you to guess whether there will be a return visit.

Took my date there last night for Valentine's Day. Luckily, I was able to get reservations that day for 8pm. I'll be honest, going to new places as a black man there's always that thought in the back of your mind, "I wonder how we'll get treated here?". From the moment we arrived, everyone was very nice and welcoming. The host even asked if we didn't mind waiting a moment, he'd get us a table by the window...on Valentine's Day? Couldn't ask for better service there. The waiter was nice and attentive. When I asked him about the wine list, he admitted he was not well versed in the selection but would bring over a manager to assist. The manager, George, could not have been a nicer guy. My date described what type of wine she likes and George's recommendation was spot on! Wine was delicious and would definitely order again (it was the Chateau Montelena Riesling 2019). Not too sweet and not too dry. Nice, crisp, and refreshing which paired very well with our dinner. We started with the fried Calamari. Simply delicious! More calamari than breading which I like. I hate when you order fried seafood and you're eating more flour than fish. My date ordered the Lobster A la Hawthorne. It's a stuffed lobster with bread crumbs and baked potato on the side. The medium was more than enough. I ordered the Swordfish with Jasmin Rice. We also tried their amazing marinated mushrooms and hot out of the oven pop overs. The only thing that was disappointing about our dinner was the rice. Than again, I come from a culture that eats it everyday, so I have high expectations when it comes to good rice. Would try a different side next time. All in all, the service was impeccable. Everyone was so professional, but not robotic like some places. Made you feel like you were in one of those old school Italian restaurants and the Rat Pack are a few tables over. Waiter, host, manager, and door man were all great. I didn't go into the amazing view because at night, with the indoor lights, outside is not that visible. But let me tell you, when you finally do get a chance to look past the windows and you see this stream of city lights, nothing beats the view. Thank you Anthony's for making my last minute Valentine's Day plans seem like they were perfectly orchestrated. Not once did anyone make my date or I feel out of place or we were not welcome there. In fact, I was treated like was a regular. Loved it and would definitely go back. Sorry, Mission on the Bay, but we found our new restaurant by the beach.

Never goes out of style. Marinated mushrooms, hot popovers, lobster bisque, glover salad, New York sirloin with bernaise sauce and baked Alaska. They don't make places like this anymore! My only suggestion is to ditch the doorman. His job is to open the door, but his time is spent playing on his phone. Having him there serves so purpose. It's just awkward walking by him. Maybe he is a relative of the owners?

The food was delicious. The wait staff cheated us. We left a cash tip. The waitered added a tip to my card. I went back and got a refund.

I was actually very surprised to see a lower than average rating for this place. We had an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The chowder was excellent, the crab cakes delicious, and the baked lobster was simply amazing. The "poppers" (bread) was worth the experience alone. Will be back

My best friend was getting a sweater out of the trunk of my car when she was approached by the parking attendant/door man, I didn't hear the interaction but she said that she thought she was being "catcalled by a homeless person" so was trying to ignore him, until he was close enough and yelling at her so she couldn't ignore him any longer. He was yelling that we couldn't park there because he assumed we weren't eating at the restaurant and said that he was going to call a tow truck "for the third time today". I couldn't hear the interaction but his body language was terribly aggressive, I didn't even hear his voice and i wanted nothing to do with this place so needless to say we were both put off and left. I feel unfair leaving a review for a restaurant that I didn't eat at but I've never had a more unusual experience with staff, he didn't even attempt to approach us and ask if we were eating there. Perhaps the only thing this restaurant is good for now is it's completely empty parking lot, and the staff has subconsciously adjusted their hospitality to guarding it's only asset?

Took my family of 4 there today. The food was good. Got the soft shelled crabs which were a bit overcooked and tough, and the bread coating a little burned. But still edible. Wife said the scallops were good. Wait staff was nice, and professional, but slow. Could see our waiter lounging by the chefs station shooting the breeze with other waiters, not once looking in our direction to see if we needed anything. Restaurant was almost empty at 5:00pm on a Sunday. Thought the prices were high for what you got. $35 for 3 small soft shelled crabs. I know many other places serving better, cheaper. But if you like the ambiance of a 50-60 year old restaurant that almost never changes their menu, then you're in the right place.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. My husband got the boiled lobster and it was cut down the middle and a little bread crumbs on it. When looking, all the freakin tail meat was gone. Nothing. 60.00 for two claws. I had baked stuffed shrimp. Bread crumbs were like sawdust and so dry. When walking in (I had made a reservation for a window seat) I told the gentleman what my reservation was for and that I wanted the window and his response was, "we do the best we can" wtf. We sat in the middle of the restaurant and mind you the restaurant was not busy at all. If I could give no stars I would. Tell your friends that you can get a better meal and less expensive in Turners. Robin Hurley

Very classic setting, spacious, a lot of light, ocean front with gorgeous views, great food, wine, and service.
