Masao's Kitchen is in my top 3 favorite restaurants of all time. The tofu and seitan are unmatched. When I lived in the Boston area, I had to stop myself from going more than once a week.

This is the absolute best vegetarian restaurant in Boston (and no joke on the planet). Super healthy and really really good. It’s not salads. It’s all really well prepared veg dishes. Highly recommend this gem !!

Was looking for a vegan option for lunch in Waltham-Masao's was recommended Its a build a plate (or take out box) by the pound price-I think it was around $12.50lb. My take out box was a little hefty so I paid around $19 From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the flavors were solid. My favorite thing on the bar that day was the holiday style green beans with cranberries-I shoulda grabbed an extra scoop of that! Just a nice switch off the normal cold vegan sandwiches and salads you can find elsewhere.. Everything was served hot and fresh and looked appetizing. The bar was clean and well maintained and it was recommended to use either disposable gloves or to well sanitize before touching plates and serving spoons.

My friends and I visited on a whim on our way to pick pumpkins, and we can't help but overwhelmingly recommend it. From my understanding it's mainly - if not only - run by Masao himself, and we agree he's doing a lovely job. The atmosphere itself was very cozy and welcoming, and I definitely suggest dining in if you'd enjoy a space to take it slow and savor the peace. Can't stress enough that the food is good!! I was very happy to find nearly everything on today's menu was gluten free as one person in our party can't have any, and it was all very fall-oriented flavors. I especially liked the BBQ tofu, butternut squash millet, black bean stew, and the vanilla custard.

Masao's food is super delicious and super healthy. The followers who eat there get that. They see these meals as self care. There's time for fun food and there's a time for caring for ourselves. Masao's food is healing food. Thank you Masao.

Clean and cozy but way too expensive. This came out to $25... not sure I will be back but I'm glad there's a veg restaurant in the neighborhood.

Great food by the pound. All 3 mains and the side were great.

This was my first AYCE vegan food! Its a small Japanese home style cafe or shokudo. The seithan variations were impressive! #flexitarian #plantbasedfoodie #plantbasedfoodies

Not bad. $12.50 / lb buffet...not all you can to eat buffet. Had about 7 selections. It was ok if in the area. I didnt feel it was worth a special trip.

The owner was startled that I walked into the place, and with a disposable food container at hand asked me if it my meal was to go. I sat down and had lunch there, no other customers were greeted the same way. The food was really good, and so was dessert. The ambience was laid-back and everything was clean. I left a tip and thanks on the way out; no response. Vegan food is supposed to elevate people's consciousness. I don't know, I'll give it another go next time and see if things are different.Dietary restrictions: Organic vegan food.

I can't believe that I slept on this one for this long. As someone who appreciates clean, mindful eating, this cafe certainly checks the box on all fronts for me. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. The food is top-notch, and you'll find warm, home-style, high-quality, vegan food here. They definitely run out of food fast, so highly recommend going in earlier. I may have also met the owner, Masao, who runs the place today and he's incredibly sweet.

I was vegan for nearly two years before I learned how good tofu can be, thanks to Masao!
