Drinks at the outside bar are fantastic. Bartender cares and quick but expert service. Sushi not really . Rice is not seasoned correctly and sushi fell apart. Other food is OK but a little light on the portuons

Mac’s Shack is a great spot for fresh seafood and a relaxed coastal vibe. The oysters were excellent- fresh, briny, and perfectly chilled. Shrimp and fish dishes were flavorful, and the fish and chips were crispy and satisfying.
The fish tacos were served deconstructed, with the fish in its own dish and sides of guacamole, pico de gallo, pickled onions, and chopped onions in some delicious vinegar mix. You assemble the tacos yourself, which was fun, though the tortillas stuck together a bit.
The only miss was the truffle fries—too oily—but the staff handled it graciously and took them off the check, which I really appreciated. I also tried the key lime pie to go; the flavor was nice, but the texture was too wet for my taste.
Overall, great seafood, friendly service, and a spot I’d return to for the oysters and fish dishes alone.

I’ve never had a lobster roll so finally decided to try the hot one here. Pretty bland and chewy especially for $39 for the small 4oz size. My gin drink was good and the patio views are nice though. It is the end of season right now.

When I say I cannot express how amazing our experience was, I really mean it. Firstly, Mac’s is a celiac safe establishment. Not just celiac “friendly”, but seriously built around safety for people with gluten issues. The owner (Mac) has celiacs and so all the staff are knowledgeable and the menu is about 90% gf. Our waitress, Jolee, was a gem! She was so excited with how excited we were 🤣 She took time explaining the menu, answering questions, and made sure to check on us often. We will be back on our next trip to Cape Cod, and Mac, if you are reading this, please bring a location to Georgia!

A seafood disappointment! This restaurant is over-rated. The food was awful:
- Grilled octopus appetizer was literally inedible. It was not cooked right--each and every bite was so chewy that you were unable to break it down to eat. Aside from the poor execution of this seafood, the octopus was covered in spices, which masks the wonderful natural flavor of grilled octopus when cooked correctly. This dish should never have left the kitchen to a paying customer.
- Toro tuna sushi was also inedible. It was poor quality in that each bite was stringy sinew. The rest of the sushi was mediocre at best.
- Spice crusted tuna entree was also disappointing. The fish appeared old, didn't have crust, and tasted off like a not-fresh fish does.
- On a positive note, our waitress was very good.
Overall, this was a bad seafood dining experience. We've been here before and all of our seafood experiences have been average at best, so this place is over-hyped. But this time it was especially poor at $200+. Raised by a professional chef, my specialty is cooking seafood, and I know how it should look and taste. I called the manager of Mac's Wellfleet to let him know about the very poor seafood and was told that I would receive a call back from senior management. Nobody called me back, which says it all.

The Wellfleet oysters were amazing. The fresh pasta lobster fettuccine, also amazing. Easy to make a diner out of appetizers. Best seafood meals we've had in a long time. So much creativity!
