Terrific Roman-Style Pizza in Wellfleet (Year-Round!)
Tiny Pizza Spinello, a family-run business in downtown Wellfleet, produces terrific Roman-style pizza. Pizza Spinello is admirably run: the owners are focused on making a great product and delivering first-class service. You see it the moment you encounter their well-designed online ordering system, which works well on a laptop and a phone — and experience it when you pick up your pizza.
We loved all the pizzas we tried including the Amatriciana (it's vegan, though you can top it with anchovies or tuna if you want) and the Sebastiana, which has soppressata and cheese. Our favorite was the Salsicce e Friarielli -- sausage and broccoli rabe, with the great addition of a touch of provola.
Pizzas are sold in half sheets and whole sheets — a half sheet can easily feed two people but consider ordering a second half-sheet. Roman pizza, if you've never had it, is made to be reheated, so you can warm leftovers, drizzle them with some olive oil, and have an awesome breakfast or lunch.
Note: Pizza Spinello doesn't have a phone but you can email them or message them through the website and they respond quickly. They also sell nicely designed merch and various well-chosen Italian products.

I think the carbonara pizza is the best thing I’ve ever eaten, it was absolutely delicious, the egg yolk is velvety, the smell from the Parmesan is intoxicating, perfect blend of pepper and crunch from the crust. Please do yourself a favor and share one with a friend.

Delicious pizza, which they call ‘Roman’ style. Our slices were a thicker yet crispy crust pizza. They had a choice of 5 toppings by the slice. We tried two versions, both tasty. They also make full pizzas to go. Great for take away, but we found one lovely outdoor table in a quiet setting.

In Wellfleet there is only one quality pizza option, Spinello! It is excellent, Roman style pizza - rectangular, crispy crust, with soft interior, and top ingredients. They take their craft seriously, which means limited flexibility on making your own pie, but this is a good things because they know what they are doing. Oh, it's expensive - but if your want good pizza, its worth it. The options up on Rte. 6 are not comparable.

Pizza was excellent, but pricey. Well made with clean ingredients and delicious. Note: walk down all steps to the basement where this small shop is located.
This is the best addition to a previously-grim pizza scene. Important aspects that make this pizza studio stand out: 1) ordering online is so convenient — their ordering website is clear and easy to navigate; 2) they are always on time with their pick up times; 3) they have classic pizzas (eg pepperoni) but also more exciting ones (carbonara). Best of all: thank you for making an amazing puttanesca pizza that’s technically vegan but is so delicious I have to hide it from my family. Pro tip: you’ll need a pizza cutter. Thanks for bringing great pizza and delightful service to Wellfleet!

This pizza is top tier, no question. The crust is fantastic-well fermented and airy, it's chewy while being crisp on the bottom and easy to digest. Toppings, sauce and cheese are all high quality.
I especially liked the carbonara. Even my young kids couldn't get enough of the Americana, and they're picky.
It's not cheap but it shouldn't be, and it's not especially expensive either.

Best Pizza on the Cape, with real Roman-style dough, and top quality ingredients and toppings. For example: the tomato sauce tastes like slow vine ripened tomatoes. The toppings are not ‘overloaded’ or spare, but rather ‘just right’ so you taste each in both isolation, and as a compliment, and in concert with other ingredients. Chef John knows his dough and his compositions, these are true, classic, Roman style pizzas with ingredients like you would enjoy at the *best* pizza specialists in Rome. True authentic excellence. Another telling mark: USA-style cheap ‘pepperoni’ is horrible. You won’t see that here. Chef John uses the finest, best tasting, authentic Italian slices that taste of meaty excellence, cup appropriately, but render no excess fat. The true mark of true quality of true top ingredients. The story is the same with the quality of any ingredient topping. These are proud folks making an excellent product with no compromise on quality. On the Cape, there is no better pizza. Go now!
