We just moved to the area, and we wanted to try this place because I haven't had Pho soup in a long time, and it's my comfort food. My soup was absolutely amazing, my family's pad Thai was also great. Tonight was my first visit, and I plan on coming back once a week. Simply amazing.

The food was exceptional !! The Tom Kha Gai brought me back to my trip to Chiang Mai. It's my favorite thai dish and they did not dissapoint. The thai milk tea was SO good too. Better than most thai milk tea Ive had in Canada. The very relaxing music and atmosphere was all I needed. Thank you for this great meal

I’ve ordered takeout from Baan Thai several times, and it’s consistently been a positive experience. The Pad Thai with chicken is always delicious, and my orders are ready on time. The restaurant is clean and well-organized, which makes pick-up easy and hassle-free.
This is absolutely my go-to place for Thai food, and I highly recommend

Been here plenty of times and always leave happy and full. The portions to price is quite fair and a good value compared to other Thai places in the city. There are menu items you cannot find at other Thai places, because I think this restaurant is owned by Thai-Laotian?
Anyway, my favourite is the Nam Khao Tod (Lao crispy rice salad with fermented pork), holy crap--if you love textural foods, you HAVE to try it! It is salty, sour, and complex flavours with crunchy rice bits, fresh herbs, chopped fermented pork sausage, pork skin, and wrapped in lettuce. Incredible value at $15.99 that can be enjoyed on its own or shared.
For other foods, I like ordering the Laab/Larb, extra spicy. The curries are pretty delicious too, like the Massaman, peanut curry, and red curry (forgetting the names right now). The Lao pho is a must try for pho fans, the portion is huge and can be shared, and there is also a chicken noodle soup made with handmade noodles if that is more of your thing. We also tried the highly acclaimed soft shell crab curry in a yellow curry sauce, which I found to be okay. The curry sauce is tasty, but I found the soft shell crab to be overbattered (it is deep fried), and I can barely taste the crab inside. We found it to be too much and rich in carbs and wished we got more crab. Glad we tried it, but in our opinion, we found other dishes to be much more satisfying.
If I had some criticisms about the restaurant and food, it would be that they are a bit heavy handed on the salt and would ask for less next time, especially if you are wanting to watch your sodium. As well, they removed paper menus and transitioned into tablet ordering which we are not a fan of. It doesn't allow for us to ask for customisations and defeats the purpose of just talking to a server. For example, they only have 3 spice levels listed, and the spiciest level on the tablet is basically a mild for us. ☠️ Otherwise, the food is top notch. Service is attentive and prompt. Restaurant is immaculately clean.
St. James is quite lacking in good Asian restaurants, so having Baan Thai in this part of the city is a treat. If we lived further away, it is still worth the drive. Try this place out if you want something different!

Food was good, although portions were a little small for the price. The atmosphere was nice.
You order from the table on a tablet, so the only interactions with my waiter were him bringing the drinks and then the food.

Authentic Thai cuisine with standout dishes like the crab Rangoon. The digital ordering system adds a modern, convenient touch to the dining experience.

Food and service was amazing. Went there with my cousins and nieces (14) and they were able to accommodate us. Will be back again.

Ordered for delivery. Delicious. A little pricey for a meal for two but we probably have enough leftovers for tomorrow. Peanut sauce was out of this world. Chicken in the Pad Thai was a tad overdone but not necessarily the fault of the restaurant - we live 20 mins away and I'm sure it kept cooking as it rested in the delivery driver's car. The Pad Thai was out of this world perfect otherwise.
