While waiting for my room at the Fairmont hotel, I decided to go to the underground beneath the hotel and try to find something for lunch. It was a cold windy day in Winnipeg and I was in search of something in the 'home style' category. Nathan Detroit's Sandwich Pad was exactly what I was looking for. I got there shortly before lunch and was seated promptly. The menu is impressive but not overwhelming. The sandwich I ordered was fantastic - the ham and swiss sandwich platter, which includes coleslaw, potato salad a big dill spear. Lots of food and very delicious. The place was beginning to fill up when I was leaving, but they were lined up out the door for take out. Everyone was greeted with a big smile. Clearly there are a lot of lunch regulars at Nathan Detroit's. I know why! As a frequent traveller from Ottawa, I have happily found my go-to lunch spot in Winnipeg. I am looking forward to my next vist!

Genuine good service that doesn't feel forced. Great food, nice deli atmosphere. Excellent for breakfast and lunches. The restaurant extends to the rear which can accommodate larger groups, nice for team building.

Food and service absolutely fantastic. The sandwiches are unbelievable and treated very well. Alot of the times the staff doesn't forget a face which is huge in the industry.

Highlights from our lunch were the chicken salad and potato salad, both simple homemade recipes. Banana bread was incredible, and also from a family recipe. Friendly owner and staff. Unassuming, casual place right under the Fairmont

Had lunch special, add a soup. It was SO good! Everything homemade with love. Happy to come back again! Can’t resist the muffin even though I was super full. Again muffin just as good as my meal

Conveniently located underground near Portage and Main for the office worker, this pad serves large, delicious deli sandwiches and homestyle soups. As a traveller from Vancouver, I make sure to stop in here if my business in downtown Winnipeg includes lunch.

We had this meal catered - they delivered on time and has easily been one of the best catered events we've had. All the food is tasty, homemade and the perfect quantity.

Recently came across this gem of a restaurant in the underground. Really responsive and friendly staff. Great prices for anyone looking for an affordable lunch spot. Also, for anyone in the downtown area that missed the first meal of the day, All Day Breakfast! Also serves a variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads. Everything is a la carte, so there are no penalties for only wanting something small with no sides. Give it a chance, you won't be disappointed.

Best sandwiches ever! Delicious. Fresh. Incredibly generous portions! Also, very friendly staff. All the food on the menu is awesome. Had the breakfasts there too’. Yummm!

I had breakfast there on a very very cold day in Winnipeg. The staff was extremely friendly accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was great. One staff member, who unfortunately do not have her name, walked me through the maze of tunnels, stairs and elevators, to shorten by walk outside on that very frigid day. That is what you call going beyond the expectations.
