I had the chicken shawarma and my husband had the double bacon cheese burger with fries was delicious service friendly and prompt dining area clean and tidy but needs some music to add to atmosphere
Pretty good deli shop. I came during lunch and needed to wait around 25 mins for my meal to be ready. Tried the beef brisket breakfast, smoke meat sandwich, and yam fries with side dill mayo. The beef brisket wasn't overly flavorful, and the portion size was ok. I really liked the dill mayo tho. Went really well with the yam fries.
Oscars was no where as good as I expected it to be. I wanted to try this local restaurant today and my order was not presented as expected. I ordered the Winnipeg falafel. When I received my order I was a bit surprised as I was expecting a wrap. Instead I received a deconstructed wrap that I needed to piece together myself somehow… definitely odd. My tortilla pieces were hard. To top it off, my hummus or tahini was spoiled. Had to spit my food out it was horrible.
I’d have to say I’m quite disappointed and turned off. And I’m still hungry lol
Was a little scared of trying Oscar's based on some of the responses to reviews 😅 but I really wanted to eat at local businesses while visiting Winnipeg. Glad I did as I had a pleasant experience. Definitely an old school diner vibe, and just feels like a really nice, honest business.
There was only one waitress working the entire restaurant and she was super sweet and pleasant with everybody, and she was constantly running around checking in on tables and making sure everyone had what they needed.
I got the Reuben platter for around $17 which seems to be really popular here. Overall I'd say the sandwich was good. They use an interesting horse radish/beetroot sauce on the sandwich. It was different from what I'm used to, but I'd say it was decent. While the meat wasn't super stacked, I'd say it's a decent chunk for sure, with some sauerkraut packed inside.
Glad I got to try a place with a little bit of history in Winnipeg!
Amazing team, had the Ruben sandwich it was a good recommendation from one of the staff. Went with my workmates and they accommodated all our dietary
restrictions. Will be coming back soon for sure.
Oscar's Deli is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality and the comforting aroma of freshly made deli favorites. The menu is a perfect balance of classic staples and creative twists — every bite is a testament to quality and care.
I tried their signature pastrami on rye and it was hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had — tender, flavorful, and perfectly stacked. The sides were just as impressive, especially the homemade potato salad and chicken noodle soup. Portions are generous and pricing is very reasonable for the quality you receive.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. The atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and has that authentic deli charm that makes you want to linger a little longer.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, Oscar's Deli is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back — five stars all the way!
Just had breakfast here and it was good portion and delicious
The best sandwiches.
Used to have the greatest Ceasar salad but the dressings changed.
My parents used to love the Rueben’s from here, we ordered it recently for a family get together and it was nowhere near as good as it used to be. Rueben was on pumpernickel bread, meat was dry, no sauerkraut. All in all very disappointed in the quality. You order a sandwich for 14 dollars and it is literally mediocre meat at best and cheese. Was hoping to have some decent tasting salami, but no. The burger was almost inedible and almost every item we got was cold by the time we got it. Honestly disappointed in the quality of almost everything we ordered other than the veggie sandwich. This place used to be so good. What a shame
I visited this place last night and food was great and service was awesome

Used to love this place and went often, but it's gone totally downhill since new ownership. I've been twice since and hoped the first flop was a fluke... nope... Worse. Food was bland and dry, place was dirty. Staff started vacuuming with a shop vac as we were eating. Realized after leaving that we were up charged at the till. Service was ok, maybe the breakfast is better... Won't be back to confirm that theory... so sad.
Just epic.
Stop in for breakfast every now and again to get a clubhouse. Absolutely love the crispy bacon on the sandwich.
When I come in at lunch the wait staff is excellent. I only ever see the one working as a server but she does a great job.
It wasn’t very busy when we went in, so the service was fast and friendly. The Rubin sandwich and fries were hot and the burger was tasty
Quality remains, unfortunately the amount of meat is half of what it used to be. Sad, but everyone is shrinking their portions.
