The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Southside

Don’t plan on getting the prime rib, I have been here 4 times on Sunday in the last month and half and they are always out. Disappointing

Had a surprise dinner for my friend’s birthday, and as always the Keg did not disappoint. Great food, and great service. Our server was Alycia, and she was amazing. Positive attitude, cheerful, and a good sport. Ordered Garlic Cheese Toast, Escargot, Bacon wrapped Scallops, Mushrooms Neptune, and Prime Rib. Everything was delicious, and came out quickly, despite it being Friday evening and the restaurant being quite busy.

My girlfriend and I came here for her birthday while I was visiting from the Minneapolis. We had an 8:30 p.m. reservation and still waited a few minutes to be seated. The food was good overall, portions were generous, and the complimentary birthday dessert was a nice touch. Our server was friendly although my girlfriend’s drink had to be remade, and my espresso martini was watery and disappointing. I was also surprised that for a steakhouse, the cocktail menu was limited compared to the extensive wine list.

What stood out most was the atmosphere. We both dressed up expecting a more upscale steakhouse experience, but the music felt more like a shopping mall than a fine dining restaurant it was literally the first thing I noticed when sitting at our seat. Additionally, there were guests in hoodies and jean shorts. My girlfriend, who lives in Winnipeg, even commented that the atmosphere didn’t compare to other restaurants we’ve visited together out of town. As someone visiting from Minneapolis who enjoys trying restaurants in different cities, I think a more refined playlist tailoring to the environment, a broader cocktail selection, and a dress code would better match the quality of the food and the price point. When guests are spending over $200 on a special dinner at a steakhouse, the atmosphere should reflect that. I really shouldn’t feel like I’m listening to the same electronic playlist you’d hear in a shopping mall. There’s a lot to like here, but I think those changes would really elevate the overall experience.

Way to expensive for what u get now it was Way better before

Walked in at 5:00 pm, walked out at 6:00 pm, as we had an appointment. The place was packed out! We ordered steaks and fish and dessert. Unbelievable! Fantastic service, lettuce wedge awesome, my fish and shrimp unbelievable! Broccoli done just right, mushroom rice just right no mush, and temperature just right, salmon so flaky and fresh and nice flavouring and the same for the shrimp. Way to go Keg! You made our dinner very enjoyable!!

I am providing an update on my previous review. During my recent visit to The Keg, the service quality was notably substandard. The server appeared to be inexperienced and inadequately trained. Furthermore, upon presentation of a $395 bill, the server's demeanor created an uncomfortable atmosphere regarding the gratuity. I respectfully request that any response refrain from citing business volume as a contributing factor, as my visit occurred on a Sunday evening at 7:15 p.m., with the establishment operating at less than half capacity. On a positive note, the culinary offerings maintained their consistently high quality, as anticipated.

I big shoutout to the manager and staff for their excellent service and taking ownership of what could have been a not so great experience!
I ordered a 14 ounce prime rib and due to the excess fat, it ended up having only 7 ounces of meat
When I finished, I took notice of how much I actually couldn’t eat and pointed it out to the waiter, who immediately agreed and said he would talk to the manager. Manager came and very courteously and professionally agreed that it wasn’t ideal and told me that he would take care of it. When the bill came, I was pleasantly surprised to see that he had taken my entire meal of the tab, which I wasn’t really expecting thinking that he would just do a percentage discount. So all in all, it was great experience where even our request for a quiet corner exceeded our expectations where we found ourselves in a section where no one else was and were able to relax with very little noisy distractions. Will definitely be returning in the future if I am in that area and want a good place to dine out!

Lunch in the bar was very nice. We had a great meal and a cool beverage. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Love this place. Always has very good seasonal specials, and great steaks! My primal urge for meat is always satiated here.

I went to a the Keg with my family yesterday and if I may advise you , do not eat at the keg. We each ordered the prime rib and mine was close to being raw, it had zero flavour and was cold. As for the remainder of the dish, the mushrooms had no flavour, the mash potatoes were like cement and the fried onions were cold and soggy. I genuinely felt like they gave us left overs. Additionally we ordered Cesar salad, which was very wilted and soggy… you could probably get better salad at the mall. For the price it is not worth it, so I would suggest going elsewhere.

Nikki this evening was a great server, she ticked every box possible and made our experience great. will definitely return because of the hospitality, great service, and amazing food we enjoyed this evening. 10/10 experience because of her care and execution.

Me and a big group came here to celebrate my fiances graduation and our server Nikki was amazing! She was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and was great with our allergies. The food was fantastic as always!
