I made a reservation with agoda.com a few days before my trip. And I also paid for it of whatever price was shown to me on the website with all the taxes and fees.
Now I came to the hotel to check in and they said that they haven’t received the money from Agoda. They cannot let me in unless I pay them the new current price which is over $100 after fees in taxes.
They also asked me to pay $100 of deposit which will be refunded.
This has been the first and the worst experience with agoda.com and the new cavalier inn hotel.
Now my over $210 are stuck until they are refunded or refunded at all. This could take 5-7 business days or more.
Thanks Canada for such regulations!
The worst hotel I have ever entered by far. Looks nothing like the pictures shared by the establishment. Hazards and construction everywhere. Loud, unavoidable music at all hours. I have included some pictures of our room including the fire hazard of crackling outlets and the safety hazard of missing locks and lights. The bed was falling apart and the bathroom was disgusting. Hair everywhere. Book at your own risk!
it was worst place i have ever been, it was stinking bad, smell of cigarettes welcomed us in, it was suffocating. And the room can't even tell closet was damaged, chair was broken and bedsheets were smelling awful. Hilarious thing was they took 100$ security damage deposit and by looking at room I literally said they should give the deposit plus the amount back. Staff was nice to us. The guy at the reception while chekout before giving the security deposit back literally went to room if everything was okay. And I was like seriously what he's gonna check. Adding photos as a proof. I don't recommend anyone this place, do not go there please.
I was at the cavalier inn this past week end for a show and I was thoroughly unimpressed. The admin staff were cold and aloof and didn’t really care about their patrons. We had to wait 45 minutes to check in because the receptionist was on break. You get what you pay for at this place. The rooms are very dilapidated and there was construction materials all over the place. Especially on the inaccessible second floor.
I had to help a young child who was disabled up the stairs. The front desk stated it was a non smoking property but it reeked of cigarettes, All over the place. They stated the smokers on the patio were causing it but it was all over the place. There was garbage in the halls, and the beds we had were stained, burnt with cigarettes and the window didn’t stay open.
It was very musty and old smelling. We were given a half role of toilet paper among three people and it would have been better to clean ourselves with saw dust, not to mention the shower leaked and dripped during our entire stay. They also had an event they were hosting till 3 but the hotel closed before two. With No one at the front desk.
We were lucky one of our friends were In our room after our walk because we would have had to sleep in our car. All doors were locked and no one was at front desk. We were very disappointed and really wanted to give this place a good review. Also when we checked out at 11 like what was expected they had to inspect the room for damage. Which took 20 minutes.
All the vending machines were tacky and the restaurant attached wasn’t even open during open times. This place obviously is old but a clean coat of paint, new beds, sheets and comforters would have made this place more livable. The bar also sucked it was laid out oddly and the serving staff were slow and the options were limited. We actually had to do a bed bug check because we were concerned.
Fortunately in our room we found no bedbugs this hotel has great potential but need a lot of changes, also the phone didn’t even have buttoned so we couldn’t call down to get what we needed.
The rooms were dirty the towels hanging looked like they wiped the floor.. There was a drug bag behind the bathroom door and discussing pube hairs all over the floor.. Dirty socks in the closets. Fridge had someone elses stuff in it .Cigarette burn holes in the blankets . Lights didn't work,TV didn't work ..I took pictures of everything . When I went down and told the clerk they were supposed to switch rooms but didn't and then there was no one to be found till the morning. I spoke to the manager and he didn't care at all . Most horrible place in Winnipeg do not stay there. Didn't even offer a refund or anything.. It should be closed down until rooms are suitable.
This was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had, and I come from the hospitality industry, so I've seen both good and bad. The staff lacked experience, leading to an excessively long check-in process. The place felt sketchy, with many questionable guests around. When we entered room 119, we were immediately hit with a strong smell of urine, and the furniture was in terrible condition—one of the wardrobe doors was completely off. My wife started vomiting right away. I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel, even if it were free.

The Staff needed to learn customer service. She told us to wait 15mins because she was filing receipts and her shift will be over soon. I couldnt believe what I just heard that I was left speechless. We had issues with my booking and she was very rude the way she handled it. I honestly dont have positive to say unfortunately.

This was probably one of the worst experiences in my life. Please do not stay here unless you absolutely have to. Hallways stunk strongly of spilled beer that they tried to carpet-clean out. Room and furnishings were visibly very old, some lights didn't work. There was new soaps etc. in the bathroom however the shower was dark and did not seem clean enough to use and I avoided it. From about 10pm-2am there was someone using substances in the room beside mine and was raging: yelling, banging, and aggressive. There were 3-4 other people who showed up trying to calm them down and remove this person from the hotel before anything further happened. These people audibly confirmed that the one person was using drugs and was becoming aggressive and needed to calm down. At one point the person exited the room and banged extremely hard and repeatedly on my room door - so hard I though they might break my door in. I had the door locked and bolted, turned out the lights, made no noise and hid, hoping that no one would crash in. The group eventually left with this individual and it was quiet by about 2:30AM. I left immediately in the morning and said I was leaving early and received a refund for my second night. The clerk yelled up to a staff upstairs to check on my room and confirm with her that there was no damage etc in my room presumably before they processed my refund. I hope that management can turn this place around or be bought out and renovate into something better. It seems that it currently is the type of location for drug-users, sex workers, and homeless who can afford a room for a night.

It is a place only to sleep, it is not exactly clean, little maintenance, not recommended to come with children, on weekends you listen to a lot of music
Rooms: Poorly maintained, poorly cleaned
Safety: The place doesn't feel safe

It's a bar. Looking better than the last time I was in.
Nearby activities: Shopping center, hardware, Do it yourself place and loads of restaurants.
