Great experience! The food was amazing I couldn’t stop drinking the Spicy Margaritas!

Food’s phenomenal, drinks are delectable, and the atmosphere is fantastic! The only gripe I have is the menu’s letters can be a bit too light for us to read in the dim environment.
Would absolutely recommend El Luchador and Barbacoa de borreago, they’re the best in my opinion!
Drinks wise, Santa Sandia is phenomenal and limonada agua fresca are to die for.

The best restaurant in Baltimore.

Beautiful place with amazing libations. The food is delectable, and the quac is smack. However, it is based on the preference of authentic Mexican. A must try!

Pretty good place with nice ambiance. The food was a bit salty for our taste. The portions could be a bit bigger for the price. There was a 45-60 wait on Friday night (if so, you can walk 5 minutes to Fadensonnen and get a drink while you wait).

Second time there. We go there when we visit our son. Food and service is amazing. Great atmosphere.

Margaritas and mezcal! Queso and guacamole are perfect. The Mahi is as good as any I have ever eaten. It’s a boisterous spot but don’t let that keep you away. 10/10 highly recommend.

About literally 5 minutes ago, I went to Clavel for the first time in many years. Last time.. around 2013, me and my entire group got food poisoning from their traditional ceviche.. meaning it isn’t cooked, and cured in lime juice. It’s delicious, but after getting sick it turned us all off from going there. We used to go regularly as a group with fellow restaurant industry workers… all bartenders, servers and managers. Minutes ago, I went to Clavel by myself to eat. I waited at the host stand, and after the hostess seated a couple before me, it was my turn to be seated. The hostess walks up, and I told her I’m by myself. She pointed to the bar and said it had one seat. These stools are literally pushed side by side with one another. I am 6”3.. 228lbs.. I literally wouldnt even be able to move my arms to eat… and my sides would be pressed against both people beside me. I didn’t say that to her.. I thought it. So, I asked for a small table maybe outside. She visibly made an annoyed face.. didn’t say anything, and walked me outside. She drops the menu on the table.. I said thank you, she didn’t reply or make eye contact.. and just walked away. Then, when she was walking up steps to go back inside, she meets up with another employee and you could see her talking about me.. I guess because I wanted a table and no be crammed like a sardine at the bar. She muttered something to her co wokrer and then they both casually looked at me trying to be discrete. I got up and left. I couldn’t believe how I was just treated. The hostess is a BI*TCH and very rude. I have worked as a bartender, manager and server for my entire life.. and if I had witnessed how that host treated a guest.. they would be fired. I’ll never go back. The reviews about rudeness are true.. AND BEWARE OF THEIR CEVICHE. It’s very good, but I suspect they aren’t following health code when it comes to preparation of raw ceviche and its curing process.

We are there for the first time last night and I can say the food was absolutely amazing and the service was phenomenal. It’s a busy restaurant for obvious reasons, but the staff made the experience a great one. The owner Carlos was super nice and stopped by to say hello to us as we have a mutual friend. I would highly recommend checking this out!!

The restaurant was a cool vide. The outside setting is really nice. Parking can be an issue but the food is delicious a bit on the pricey side but is delicious!! The drinks were one of my favorite things. Handmade tortillas and chips!

My family came to eat here for the first time, and it was wonderful! We have high expectations for Mexican food, but it definitely lived up to the hype. Paulo served us and was incredible--he is so knowledgable about the menu and provides honest feedback which we appreciated! Paulo was very personable and on top of everything... some of the best service we have ever received at any restaurant ever! We will be coming back and wanting Paulo to serve us again. I recommend the Pescado Culichi (Paulo's recommendation).

This place is amazing, definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Baltimore. I'm from Southern California so naturally, I'm picky about my Mexican food. But this place tasted like I was back home; it was that good. Our server, Paulo, was absolutely phenomenal and great about providing dish recommendations. We tried the Queso Fundido and the Tamal de Elote Fresco as our appetizers and thought they were very good. Paulo highly recommended the Pescado Culichi and it was incredible; I would come back just to get that. We also tried the street tacos (shrimp and barbacoa) and thought they were delicious. Overall, this place is great and make sure you ask for Paulo to be your waiter because he makes the experience that much better!

Excellent place to have a meal.
Went on a Saturday and the wait was going to be an hour (no reservations). Decided to leave but came back on a Monday and the 25 minute wait was only really 10 minutes.

The food here is excellent. High quality and good prices. The ceviche was pretty large (and only $16) and the service was fast for how many people were there.

One of my best meals while staying in Baltimore for two months.
