Culinary Architecture is a hidden gem in Pigtown! Their breakfast sandwiches are incredible, and the coffee is even better—by far the best iced mocha latte I've had in Baltimore. The back open-air patio is absolutely beautiful, making it the perfect spot to sit, relax, and enjoy your meal and coffee. It's also a great little market, and you can really tell the difference in quality with the owners being French-trained culinary chefs. Highly recommend stopping by for breakfast or just a cup of coffee—you won’t be disappointed!

We came here years ago as grad students and Culinary Architecture was incredible then; it’s only gotten better! The owner is so nice and makes the best recommendations. Always clean, always interesting stuff.

Such a treasure. Food is always excellent and flavorful. The owners are fabulous. Run don’t walk to the gem.

A culinary market gem in Pigtown. The standouts on this visit was the Cuban pineapple cake and the very thoughtful and thorough service. We were the only people in the garden and they visited us not fewer than four times to make sure we were doing well and to see if we needed anything. The shop alone is good enough to visit but the staff added an exemplary experience.

I took home some meat pies and a caramelized onion hot dog to have with some salad for dinner. It was great as always. Looking forward to the next time.

Lovely little neighborhood (we love Pigtown!) market. Nice selection of specialty groceries. Wonderful sweet and savory pastries and other freshly baked treats. Hot and iced coffees drinks to enjoy in the pretty outdoor seating area or togo.

I just had one of the best handmade croissants I have ever had in my life. This market churns out some of the best pastries in the city. Ovenbird could never…

We used Culinary Architecture for our wedding. The food was fantastic, the service was top notch and the price was reasonable. Sylva the owner was easy to get ahold of, and helpful in regard to the entire process.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! This is my favorite local, neighborhood shop. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. Wondering if they'll be getting more of that yummy snack or seasoning you picked up there last week? Ask them! They're always happy to get things back in stock if you want them to (supply chain permitting, of course). If they don't have it or can't get it, they'll help you figure out where you should be able to get it. I watched one of the owners spend 10-15 min with a customer trying to find a couple of specific ingredients for a dish they were planning on making that night. The owner called another local store to ask if they had those items in stock and then gave the customer full directions to drive there from Culinary Architecture. Besides their excellent selection of packaged goods and produce, the food and drinks they make in-house are also exceptionally good! Sweet treats? Meat (and No-Meat) pies? Bread? Caffeine fix? They have it all, with a solid selection of staple recipes and a rotating menu of new/seasonal items! And to top it all off, there's a lovely outdoor seating space out back if you want to stay for a break or change the scenery for your study session or work-from-home office.

A Pigtown staple. Everything is absolutely delicious, CA never misses! Some of the nicest staff ever, too. Sylva is awesome. She's always gone above and beyond on our catering orders. We love CA!

Amazing shop! CA is hands down my favourite thing about living in Pigtown, and I'm in there usually at least once a week. The shop is stocked with an eclectic, wonderful variety of food and drink (lots of international imports as well as hyper-local, Baltimore-made offerings, and specialty finds from all over the States), and I always wind up leaving with more than I came in for. They also offer fresh baked goods (cookies, croissants, little pies both savory and sweet, breads, other dishes) and there have been nights where I've eaten a salted oatmeal cookie from CA or a pint of ice cream (they have Cajou, Taharka, Jeni's, McConnells, Van Leeuwen, Boba x Ice Cream, & many more I'm forgetting) as my dinner. The cheese section and frozen meat/seafood is also insane -- my favourite burrata ever (Zingerman's) was a CA find. They also have seasonal produce including staples like tomatoes and lettuce/greens and carrots, as well as things like figs and sugar plums. In addition, the owners and staff rock. They're friendly and knowledgeable and have offered suggestions for recipes/pairings when I've asked (and they don't hover while you browse, which is very nice). They truly care about what they offer, and the store is full of things that range from accessible (many kinds of ramen, hummus/lentil dip/tzatziki, jarred sauces of all kinds) to exotic (quail eggs, caviar, merguez, pate).I've honestly never been in another food market like CA, and I consider it a tremendous asset to Baltimore.
