Expensive, sold per pound!
I decided to try the fried chicken, and it was a complete letdown. The first thing that struck me was the overpowering taste of grease. It felt as though the chicken had been fried in the same oil as their fish, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste that overshadowed any flavor the chicken might have had.
I sat and pondered on whether to leave a review as I have visited this establishment a few times, merely out of convenience. However today I visited, because I just needed a little something to get my morning started.
When I arrived, there were a few patrons awaiting their orders. Therefore I stepped up to the cashier to place my order. Upon making a couple inquiries as this was my first time, visiting the carry out for breakfast, I immediately noticed the rude demeanor of the cashier, which almost made me quickly change my mind on even placing an order. The gentleman at the counter was addressing the cashier about a matter concerning his order. I watch the cashier give him money and taking the wrapped item from his hand and throwing it into the trash bend, next to her.
I ordered a French toast sandwich and stood in the line to wait for my order. I watched several others place orders and the cashier’s behavior was unappreciative of all the brown skinned customers. I watched her pack two to go orders, dropping an item on the floor and the cashier gave no remorse.
I watched a lady who clearly had three separate orders request a bag as if she wouldn’t need it.
Another lady picked up a cookie to inquire the cost and the cashier looked at her as if she could have cared less, as she murmured $1.
The two gentlemen that had been standing there waiting for their orders just as long as I had requested a breakfast sandwich and the only reason they hadn’t left the establishment was because the facility had no grits prepared. He had literally been standing there for more than 10 mins, awaiting a small cup of grits.
We casually stood talking about the appearance the unpleasant atmosphere gave off. The gentleman stand waiting on his order explained that while they want our money they don’t seem to like serving us.
I could agree with his remark, only because an elderly lady walks in as we all stood waiting on simple orders, but was turned away for asking for a coffee cup. I don’t think she wanted anything for free, but wasn’t giving a cup and just stood there not knowing what the issue was with obtaining a cup.
It was time for me to receive my order. Remember I asked for a French toast sandwich. The French toast, might as well should have been an egg sandwich, because there was nothing about this dry sandwich that tasted like french toast, no cinnamon, brown sugar, not even syrup was provided. The egg on the sandwich and the french toast, all tasted the same. The deli turkey was just that, a couple slices of deli meat.
I get that we don’t have time or may even want to cook, because we’re busy heading to work, needing to run Saturday morning errands, or simply want to do something different, like treat yourself, but there is no reason why people who choose to be in business for themselves and their or kind, should mishandle those that patronize their business.
Either we start having big mama and auntie prepare our soul fool once again or we are going to continue seeing the out loud boldness of these individuals who want our money, but continue to be disrespectful.
We need to stop with the so called culinary nonsense, especially, if we haven’t been to anyone’s school and simply take care of our community.
We all love soul food, but we must take care of our people, holistically, because nutrients are lacking, where greed is filling/fueling their ego’s.
So much good food
This place is a ripoff cause they make you weigh the food which is ridiculous.
I got half way through eating my cheesecake and realize there was mold. I called the store they did not care hung up on me the first time. the second time asked if i wanna place another order?

I recommend you only purchase breakfast from this establishment. The dinner food is always salty. Some of the meats like pork chops and ribs are tough. Breakfast platters are great.

I purchased a 2 piece lake trout dinner for $14.00 and when I got home I had to DRIVE back to the store to return it. The Potato salad tasted spoiil and the fish was old and smelling . My husband riibs were covered in sauce and the meat was so dry.
