The service was ok. The amount of meat in the oversized burrito was almost a teaspoon. The rest was tasteless rice and beans. The manager (or gentleman glaring at customers) kept reaching into the chip bucket (barehanded) and getting handfuls for himself. Then the waiter would go use the same bucket to get chips for customers. Is that sanitary? Definitely room for improvement.

We were excited to try this restaurant, and unfortunately our Food left much to be desired. The vegetarian burrito was very bland, and the fajitas, oily and greasy. We will say that the guacamole was fantastic. We did not particularly enjoy the service. We found our server to be a bit brusque and impatient. Not that much finesse. Finally, when the bill arrived, we couldn't believe how high the prices were with the inclusion of the tip. Papi's Tacos - oh boy. I understand the need for Americanized food - many people are not accustomed to certain foods and spices and are not comfortable diving straight into the authentic sources. However, The food served here needed that spirit to be fully manifested and embraced in the food they serve. The Birria tacos especially left a lot to be desired as the filling was minimal and the consommé was dilute. Birria tacos are one of the foods that definitely needs some TLC as not putting your best foot forward for these tacos a disservice to its status in the Mexican food arena. Aside from the tacos, the chips were fine - they definitely know how to make a white Queso dip. It's plenty cheesy, flavor packed, and rich. Overall, it's Papi's Tacos is the place you go to for a casual Mexican food experience when other places are just too inconvenient to go to.

Food was just okay. I purchased the biria tacos. Not as flavorful as I'm used to from other places. The churros lacked being coated with sugar and cinnamon. Over priced for what you actually receive. Don't think I will return.

$14 for the breakfast burrito tells you mostly everything you need to know. It was a really good burrito. the creamy salsa was very good. the breakfast potatoes also very good. Refried black beans great nuff said. Now for the serious stuff I hope someone at papis is reading this. The rice is ass. It was firm which happens but it also tasted like somebody made it with an old el paso taco seasoning packet. I think there's a highly skilled scandinavian chef in the back who is sick at making tiktok food but not basic mexican food(to be clear and fair, again, the mexican rice is my only gripe rn). Also the "4oz red rice" and the "8oz rice" are labeled differently so I thought i'd get two different types of rice but it was just two tiny containers of not good rice for $10. 5 stars for me still but just order carefully. I probably wouldn't get something like enchiladas or chilaquiles here if that's even on their menu but i'm sure their nachos, burritos, fried items are great. Basically if you are annoyed by the pickled cabbage at mexican spots trend. don't get the rice. The breakfast burrito you might like

Ok, let's start with Fells Point. This is a 250-yr old tourist trap. If you read up on this place, you'll see "hipster" and "boutique" used to describe the area. So understand that this is $ stuff marked up to $$ or even $$$. Accept that anywhere here is going to be low quality for high markups. Now on to Papi's. Their house margarita is made with 3 Amigos tequila. This is $35/ bottle (Total Wine blanco prices), and their Special margarita is made with Altos tequila at $40/ bottle, so you're getting mid- to low-shelf tequila either way. Their fruited margs are made with Monin flavor syrups and are very weak with the booze. Let's compare Chili's Presidente marg made with Patrone and sour mix for $10, and you get 2.5 drinks from that. Remember, you're paying for "ambiance" not quality. Now for the food. We both had burritos, I had chicken tinga, and hubby had chorizo. If you don't know chicken tinga, it's shredded chicken in Mexican spices. Well, it's supposed to be. I'm not sure where they were in this burrito. Luckily, I picked Salsa Roja and Pico to go with it, so I had some texture and flavor. The hubs said nothing about his, so it wasn't good either. The rice was mush and beans tasteless, and teeth were not required to eat it.If you're here partying or being a tourist, set your expectations low and enjoy yourself. If you walked around the square and every place said "we're full" and you wandered your way here, you'll be fine. You just won't be impressed.

It's 48 degrees outside and staff opened the front door because they were hot. Customers who did not have opportunity to move were freezing. Staff did not care because they were hot! Never again in fall/ winter !
