Best French restaurant in DC area! We have come for special occasions, anniversaries and birthdays. The chef prepares everything and viewing the kitchen is an added pleasure. We have ordered various dishes over time and they have all been excellent. The Sancerre is the best, salads are perfect and main dishes like veal chop and duck are exquisite. Desserts are a delight. Service is attentive and personal. The rooms and outdoor dining are charming. We are so lucky to have Bistro Provence in this area! Thank you!

I had a hesitation to go to this restaurant because it had 5 stars and also 1 stars, which was confusing. Do not let this stop you from having the meal of a lifetime. We were a party of 4 and had, Lamb, Duck, Steak and Salmon, all of us thought it was one of the best meals, if not the best we have ever had. We all have traveled around the world and this shinning star is in our own backyard. The variety of Appetizers we consumed was unbelievable. The deserts to die for. The owner chef prepares every meal for every customer that has the pleasure of attending this wonderful Romantic restaurant. If you want to get in and out of this restaurant quickly, then this is not your place. If you want a wonderful Fine authentic French Food experience, then you cannot miss this opportunity. It is actually the finest food i have ever had. It is not cheap, but worth every penny and you will appreciate the time it takes to prepare something very special that you will remember for a long time. I will return very soon.

The food was nothing unusual or special especially considering the high prices. The crowded narrow space made the ambiance less than special.

Went to dinner to celebrate a milestone birthday 12/24 with about 6 other friends we were a big party. The restaurant ambience was nice. However, the lady manager was very unpleasant not only did she not welcome us, I hate to throw the race card however, by the end of our s was obvious we had been minimized based on color of our skin. The sommelier was the worst the last straw for me he was incapable of asking the group what kind of wine we felt like having, didn’t even have the customer service to come explain the bottle of wine we had chosen. Worst sommelier I have ever met !! Incapable of hiding his unconcious biases. Our waiter Riley made up for the bad customer service of the manager and incompetent sommelier 10/10 service by Riley. To top everything the manager accused us of not paying when clearly she had not done her math correctly and ended up charging an extra exorbitant amount of money to one payment more than even the entire bill. Not once did the manger take time to apologize for the poor service of the sommelier despite our complaints.Food was okay honestly. That is a matter of taste as some in my party loved their meals. I think because my meal was served 10 minutes after everyone I feel like it was a rush job as the kitchen was closing and it was not well prepared and lacked seasoning.Overall, the restaurant gets 2/5 for me. No return for me ! It is good to treat all customers equally irrespective of color don’t judge the book by the cover .

Food was ok only. Place was nice, small but cozi. Our potatoes came after we were done with the entree, so we returned it. Food was ok, bland. We had the duck, scallops, fish and crab with zucchini bread. I do think was overpriced. First time I pay $8 for a basket of bread of 5 slices.

The food is very very tasty so that is the saving grace. The portions are small. The service is ridiculous. Like order and wait almost 45 minutes for food ridiculous. Like have to remind the waiter over and over for water ridiculous. So as long as the food continues to taste this way ok. Otherwise they would shut down. If you don’t have three hours for dinner don’t go.

Over the past 10-15 years, we have dined at Bistro Provence approximately twice a year. We enjoyed it for the excellent food, ambiance, service, and prices. It has been our ‘go to’ restaurant when friends are in from out of town. Unfortunately, we will be looking elsewhere. Last Saturday night, a group of six of us arrived by 6:10 for a 6PM reservation. We were seated and before we could even say hello to each other, we were informed that we had to order dinner as quickly as possible as a group of forty was due in at 6:30. About five minutes later, as he took our drink order, the waiter reminded us that we had to order because once the big party came in, the chef would be totally focused on them for at least an hour. Five minutes later, we were told that this was out last chance to order! So we skipped a first course since, God forbid, we didn’t want to inconvenience the big party or the chef. By the way, when the restaurant had called at noon to confirm our reservation, they made no mention of a large party following us in. They obviously didn’t want us to go somewhere else – just hurry up once there. When our dinners arrived, five were served together, and after a few minutes wait, I signaled the waiter to find out what had happened to the sixth dinner. We were told it would be up ‘soon.’ We should have never had to ask! And we should have been served together. Now people at some of the other tables were starting to leave. The most horrible loud screeches came from the seats being moved. Literally, conversations had to stop. A simple foam pad, available at any office supply store, would solve the problem. With the increase in the dinner prices and a mandatory 20% tip for a party of five or more – no wonder they didn’t care about attitude or service - one would expect that they could solve this problem easily. An apology and perhaps free dessert for the inconveniences would have gone a long way to mollifying us. But at $14 a pop, plus 20%, that extra $100 must have been very important. I apologized to the group for the unfortunate hot mess. Fortunately, four of the party had eaten there before – one of the main reasons that we were back – so we chalked it up to another experience and went our merry ways.

Came in for lunch on a Saturday. Very limited menu. Non of your “cheese, meats etc” . Great food! Service by captain Andrew outstanding!!! However, the manager lady, wearing jeans and old pink T-shirt sat in the middle of the dining room on her phone, while the only server was in the weeds.. the only interaction with me and my business partner ( who’s a chef) was dropping off the check and commenting on our conversation.. what?! I can’t put less than 5* because of this ridiculous individual and I own and run restaurants myself! Btw, would not disclose her name also.. Otherwise, beautiful space!$140 before tip , no alcohol on Saturday morning

Bistro Provence is a special place. The food and ambiance are exquisite. Service is professional if a bit aloof. I need to dine here more often even if I'm dining alone. It's a truly wonderful experience.
